How do people know this? Why did they want to play their alternate kit? How come people know what the RFL did - they don't know themselves what they're doing on a day to day basis. I love these theories that come out about stuff going on behind the scenes. Does anyone on RLFANS.COM really know about the decisions taken by a select few involved at the heart of both clubs? I suspect not - until the proper facts come out in a couple of days or so after a mini-inquiry.

No, Cas agreed to wear the Fax kit after much deliberation. They were in no way 'made' to wear Halifax's kit.
The RFL kit directive is the official document that should be adhered to, and it clearly states which kits should have been worn by each team.

| Yes. Doesn't it also say Cas should have brought both kits?
And given the directives shown on the RFL website are pretty inaccurate maybe, just maybe both teams were told to wear their alternate strips?

Does your computer not run Excel?
www.therfl.co.uk/referee/kit_directives
There should have been no colour clash.
Huddersfield were directed to wear their principal kit.
Castleford were directed to wear their alternative kit.
Castleford arrived with the kit directed.
Huddersfield did not.
How difficult is this to understand?

| I blame:
Cas for being Cas.
Hudds for being awkward
and the RFL for not having this sorted.

| Here's another idea at the start of a franchise each club must state its principle colour eg
Warrington will say Primrose and Blue, every kit in that franchise period must be that colour.
Now we have 14 clubs and there are more than 14 colours, each club gets to pick a colour for their away kit which no other club can pick as theirs. So again going with the Wire example we'd pick black and have to stick with that colour for 3 years and no other club can have black as their away kit.
Clubs can change design but not colour.
Clubs then have to wear their home kit in every situation that doesn't clash and sparingly wear their away top when it does clash.

| It’s one of the best things to happen in the game for a while. It’s certainly up there when a collie dog was running riot during a Leeds v Halifax cup tie.

| This is pure comedy, amateur teams ring each other 72 hours prior to the game to arrange kits and generally tend to manage, sometimes these clubs have never played each other also the kits aren't on tv and in the press everyweek. Yet between 2 professional clubs and the RFL they can't work out who wears what.
Never had this problem back in the days when clubs wore the same shirts home and away with the odd exception when there was a colour clash

How difficult is it for you to understand that Castleford (as the away team) should have brought BOTH kits?
You're both in the wrong. Huddersfield's gaff just highlighted Castleford's gaff. Cas hopefully won't only turn up with the one kit in the future.

| In the RLE today the giants MD is quotes as saying the RFL directive they have shows the Giants in alternative kit and the Tigers in principle kit and this situation was confirmed by Phil Bentham on behalf of the officials.
So the Giants brought the right kit, and Cas didn't, twice over.
You want to pin this on someone, pin it on Cas.

Or maybe Cas got the original one off RFL list and only Hudds got the new one and RFL communication is to blame? Could be one or more of the 3!
At the end of the day if BOTH teams bring BOTH kits their won't be issues in the future, simple as that.

Who is laying turf?
The 'artificial' surface is a combination 'plastic' and grass seed. For this process you want maximum speed of growth with the grass - relying on sunlight. The maximum sunlight is in and around June 21st. To do this process in September would be the action of an idiot. HTH

| Oddly enough, this isn't the first time Huddersfield have been involved in kit problems. Back in October '88, thanks to internal problems at the club, they turned up for a game at Chiswick without any kit at all (happily the players had their boots)! Fortunately there'd been an amateur game before the main match, so we had to hastily swill out one of the teams' kit in the plunge bath and Huddersfield played in rather soggy pale blue shirts. The result? Fulham 61 - Huddersfield 22.

| I remember Wire turning up to Cas in 86 or 87 with no kit and loaning the kit from our colts or alliance side.
They still won though.
