Correct...Dorn and Temata are both injured so we will only have the option for 3 Anzac players Chad Randall, Luke Williamson and David Howell.
As has been done to death everywhere else on these boards, the Quota system is designed to get young UK players playing at the top level with an aim to get a better standard of England/GB team to take on the Aussies/Kiwis....Quins would seem to have taken the quota system to heart and are an example of what can be achieved if you try. That said, I expect the SL trophy to be held aloft by the captain of a team with 7+ overseas imports whilst Quins will struggle........but in the long run I believe this will change. An example of the system working (kind of) is young Ben Jones Bishop getting first team footie at Quins this year whilst Leeds continue to field Webb.....in the hope that when Webb leaves, they may have a pretty good replacement ready to step in......

Back on thread, I am very happy for Wakey that they seem to have got past this issue and can look to the future with more confidence........good for the fans, good for the game in general.

Mate, I could not agree more with the sentiments, or with the ideal scenario you very well dcescribe. But the question remains unanswered...how to get there? Its all well and good saying clubs should have a business model and all that, but - again - where is the income coming from? You simply cannot cut costs much more in most areas (unless you are lucky enough to have e.g. a Moran paying for Johns to come over or a Davy saying go spend the cap on Hodgson I'll underwrite it) without losing the best players to other sports or otherwise from the game completely. What would YOU do to create this sustainable business model? Not a meant to be a clever-dîck question, cos I've been struggling and failed miserably to answer it for years so I'm at a loss too!

Only if they have a sugar daddy to bankroll them. Is that what we really want the competition to come down to? Who has the richest, daftest owner?

wakey arent growing. crowds are static or falling. theyve failed on their promises to improve. better clubs are outside SL waiting to get in

when SL has every club spending full salary cap, watch how much better the competition it is.

if you dont want clubs reliant on outside income sources you can drop the salary cap down by 400,000 pounds or so and watch even more players lost to union.

One concern for wakefield fans may be that they had a large unpaid tax bill in a strong on field season in 2009.: They had difficulty with gates despite having a strong season (5th + a top 18s side). While hopes are high a dip in performance in 2010 could see gates fall further. The tax went unpaid in 2009 despite the club raising an undisclosed amount through the sales of shares.

There is at least the possibility that the 2009 bill has been paid with 2010 season ticket money + Atkins money + 2010 replica sales. This uses money that would normally be used in 2010. The scope for share options and transfer fees will be limited in 2010.
