I find it strange that everyone involved in RL is so proud that players don't give the ref cheek, when an intentional assault on an unexpectant opponent gets a warning.

Family sport my ; what a message to kids that is: don't give me any lip, but feel free to punch your mates in the face for no reason.

People slag off footballers, but such a cowardly assault would at least be dealth with by the football authorities.

As in life, it depends on who you are with regards to punishments. Alan Shearer could pretty much do what ever the hell he liked and not receive any sort of suspension. Neil Lennon could testify to that.

BTW Stosic is clear to play this Sunday thankfully, he has not broken his eye socket.

Not suggesting he is (and I would hope the Stosic would rise above thoughts of revenge), I was merely commenting on the likelihood of Newton doing some damage next season given his penchant for injuring St Helens players.

What is annoying is that it is a totally unnecessary action that resulted in injury, there was no need for him to do that, it wasn't accidental, it was an intentional retaliation by the player with serious consequences.

I seriously believe the time has come for RL to adopt the football ruling of any raised hands (in a punching/striking motion) results in an automatic red card and a 3 game ban. None of this hiding behind the "On Report" cop-out.

I think you'll find I wasn't the only one. I didn't personally attack Stosic at all either, I just suggested that he must have biscuit bones if that impact broke his eye socket, which incidently it didn't. It didn't break his eye socket or anything else for that matter, so in reality I was right and it was just a nothing incident blown out of all proportion by a lot of fawning and jealous supporters of other clubs.

Pitiful defence of Cunningham. Get real. It was a petulant act worthy of a penalty and absolutely nothing more. We see worse things happen every game and a couple of the high shots from Wakey at the weekend were much worse. But hey, who cares?

If anything, Stosic should be banned for rolling around as though he has been shot. We dont need that kind of play acting in rugby league

Exactly it wasn't even a punch, Stosic brought it upon himself by messing around with the King
Then he milks the situation........he would be better of playing Footall where this behaviour is more tolerated.
Its good that the RFL saw it as very minor offence and nothing else.
