| Last time he got away from the spotlight/groupies/etc (playing club footy up in Cairns) people said how much more mature he acted. Hopefully this'll be similar and the SL will have a new star.

If you put Todd Carney in the same team as William Tonga and Morgan Escare you have a very powerful attacking machine that will tear to shreds the defences of the likes of Wigan, St. Helens, Warrington, Huddersfield, Castleford and Leeds.

You’re going off like he’s the best player to hit SL in many a year.
Yes, on his day he can be a class act, but this must be tempered with the numerous no-shows, lengthy layoffs with injuries (especially hamstring related), not to mention his antics off the field.
But when all’s said & done he’d be an improvement on Price, just hope he doesn’t defend on the right edge with Pomeroy, it’ll be like the bad old times at the Sharkies .

| Carney would be brilliant signing for the Catalans and the league as a whole - genuine class player. If he has a similar impact to Greg Bird then the usual top 4 better watch out!!

| Very good player, but not a genuine world beater, but think he will fit in with Catalans style of play and will be a very good signing.

| So where does this leave Scott Dureau? Will he be signing full time for the Roosters or will he stay in SL either to fight for a spot in the Catalan team or at another club?

| Fantastic signing, can't wait to see him in action in SL next season.
All we need now is for Greg Inglis, Michael Jennings and Jonathan Thurston to go out on the lash and get filmed doing some stupid sh*t and SL might get interesting again!

Maybe Scott Dureau will stay at the Roosters. But if he goes back to Perpignan he will be competing with Thomas Bosc for one scrum half spot. The Catalans would like that luxury of quality cover in the halves but Scott Dureau might not. On the other hand he will only be a reserve for injury to Mitchell Pearce if he stays with the Roosters (he now plays in the NSW Cup).

Todd Carney has signed for three years, and may be made captain of the Catalans.
Catalans beat off offers from other SL clubs and also from French rugby union.
www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/ ... 7060997915
Considering that Catalans will also have Morgan Escare and William Tonga in the back line in 2015 and you can understand how the Catalans attack will be the best in the Super League.

| Fantastic signing.
Separately I think Millard is leaving - or I wouldn't be surprised if he did - and I don't think there would be room for Scott Dureau if the current quota players stay; Pomeroy, Oldfield, Taia, Lima and Anderson, with Tonga and Carney on the way that makes 7.

| It's an excellent signing for the Dragons, but why on earth would they make him captain? His behaviour is going to be under the microscope, surely it's better to just let him concentrate on his game without adding any extra pressure on him.

| Great signing. Will be the best half in the competition by a mile if his head is screwed on and he comes with the intention of getting his head down and working hard.

| Escare has signed a new 4 year deal with Catalans.....Jean would've posted this but he's locked himself in a dark room with a box of Kleenex upon hearing about the news.

I don't know why Catalans signed Benjamin Pomeroy when they already had Darryl Millard and Vincent Duport . Pomeroy is much too slow for a centre. Duport is a far superior centre.
With William Tonga coming to Catalans I would rather see the Catalans release Pomeroy than Millard -- a man who can play centre or wing with great finesse.
Pomeroy would be much better released and signed to play alongside Waisele Ligani Naiqama at London Broncos, where his lack of speed would be less of a handicap, and his size could help score tries and help lift London Broncos back into their rightful spot in Super League.

| What a backline!
[iMorgan Escare
Michael Oldfield, Wiliam Tonga, Vincent Duport, Darryl Millard
Todd Carney
Thomas Bosc/Scott Dureau[/i
Todd Carney: best No. 6 in Super League by a mile.
Escare, Tonga, Duport and Carney will shred the opposition defences.
Watch out Wigan! Watch out St. Helens! Watch out Warrington! Watch out Leeds! Watch out Huddersfield! Les Catalans will be hot!

I'd argue Lima has been the bigger disappointment and most replaceable.
Earlier in the year Millard was rumoured to be Hull KR bound (but I think they're now up to quota maybe?) and Bill Arthur mentioned he was leaving in a game around a month or 6 weeks ago - not that either are concrete evidence of him not getting a new deal of course.
As for Pomeroy, I too thought he was a bit ponderous but at times he's been ok, anyway I think London are spent up on overseas too.
