Nasty injury that. Just a freak accident. Collissions happen more than you might think, but usually it's just a push and a stumble. Horrible thing to have happen. I hope he recovers as quickly as possible and with no lasting problems.

He was doing very well until the injury, best of luck to him in his recovery. Any chance we can get him an electric wheelchair to ref in? Now THAT would be a spectator sport!

Who would be everyone's choice to step up, for the remainder of the season (or however long Bentham will be out) from the championship?
I'd expect to see a mixture of Tim Roby & Robert Hicks although I'd prefer that big Ginger one, not sure of his name, George something?

While on the subject, whatever happened to that ref from a couple of years ago, he was a young tubby bloke with dark hair. Disappeared from SL after a year.

Out of the Championship Referees I personally think Matt Thomason and George Stokes are the best by a fair way. Roby, Hicks etc aren't bad either.

Hopefully Ronnie Laughton will get promoted for a bit though, get him out of the championships for a while!!

We had George Stokes a few weeks ago against the Skolars, and he had a pretty decent game.

If someone wants to take Ronnie or Jamie Leahy, then I'll be happy.

I think banter is often a good way of taking away from the seriousness of what's happened. Stops people from panicking.

On who should step up, I saw a Mr Leatherbarrow referee a championship match recently - I think it may have been Leigh v Rochdale in't cup. I had never come across him before but I thought he gave a very good account of himself.

Leave Thomason, Stokes and Leahy in the Championship......They`re head and shoulders above Childs,Hicks and co.

You could see the poor bloke was in agony.Whatever your thoughts about him as a ref you have to wish him a speedy recovery.

Any French refs that could step up? Would be good for int game availability of neutral refs to have more experienced French refs
