Id rather pay more for a big name Aussie superstar who is going to aid the development of our youth than have mid salaried aussies like you said, in my squad, definately. We tried to sign Lockyer, hardly shows the lack of ambition we have and it doesn't at all hint to us signing a shed full of them

SOC knows what he's doing. Everyone knows Lockyer isn't the player he was but my god he still has a lot to show for himself and would have been one of the biggest SL signigs of all time if it came off. I'm delighted by the prospect of SL but a lot of work needs doing o the pitch.

well if they do they do and if not then fair enough. Weve already shown as a club our desire and dedication to our youth setup and this is only going to improve once promoted imo.

Widnes will be a SL success because of his drive..... i think your town can still bring the fans in with the right team... might take a few years... it will work though.

I think thats what franchising is all about, slowly building on your strengths and slowly reducing your weaknesses. What im looking forward to is a 10k crowd at the stobart when wire and saints visit.

I see its gone from 20,000 from when they were in the championship to 30,000 now. I think the highest attendance we got in SL last time was just under 10k. However, with the drive and with the management we have with SOC, hopefully we can improve on this. If we make the 7000 members mark then we are going to spending to the full cap creating a very competitive team.

Out of curiousity, how many teams spend to the cap? The majority?

To be honest if Widnes were the favourites to go down and Wakefield were coming up then I would probably adopt a similar attitude if they had 50 points put past them in the championship. As we all know though its the off field and youth set up which is the most important these days.

im a leigh fan and would just like to wish widnes the best of luck in Super League. However when walking home from the ground some widnes fans were not gracious in defeat. I hope you do well and show that a championship club can come up and compete. Good luck

It's Ok having money to spend, but I'm not sure were Widnes are going to find 15 plus players of good enough quality, are they under the same quota rules as most of SL?

Going to be a very hard first season for them, but I'm sure that they know this already.

was reported on the footy show last night that widnes made darren lockyer an offer to delay retirement for a bit and join them for next year but lockyer has turned them down

The thing that saddens me as a trinity fan of many many years...

now the new owner has control at the club... the ONLY thing that the club lacks is a shiny new stadium...

If you look at the backroom work going on at Trinity, it is (in many areas ) leading edge... in others it is merely excellent.. the youth set up is role mdel worthy.. the transition of players throuth the grades can be tracked and measured and stacks up, against any business model...

Until the middle of last year... a timescale which mirrored the previous owners business affairs hitting the rocks... at first team level the club were MORE than holding their own.

The new owner has finances which will allow the club NOW to spend up to the full cap allowance.

The only thing that lets us down is the descrepit old stadium...People say that Trinity have not stepped up to the plate.... but they have... in 90% of their business...
