| No, not at all. It fell down last time as it's an archiological rivalry. I'm from Warrington and feel absolutely no connection to Lancashire at all. To me it's a county down the M6 which covers the Preston/Blackpool sort of area.

There is a case that it could be used as the curtain raiser for the (hopefully) annual Exiles game as a way of identifying future England players, although the risk of injury wold put most coaches (and fans) off.
Would require a free weekend though to make it viable.

| Easts V Wests would be better suited, overseas players should play in the games as well, and it should be down to which area you play in rather than origin of birth!

| It's had it's day IMO. It was tried again and folk didn't get behind it.
If both front rows had erupted and had a 5 minute brawl with fisticuffs galore then it might have created some talking points and folk left itching for the next match.
Instead it was a half hearted damp squib of an event.

Or to have an equally arbitrary construct, why not have two teams made-up of those who's last names begin from A-M, and N-Z, and call it "A-Z Origin!", and have it sponsored by Heinz Alphabetti Spaghetti.

Might stop 8 of your players being picked like in the exiles game, then bombing an easy point you lost at odsal

Easts versus Wests for me as well, club orientated with 2 overseas guest players on each side. Lancashire versus Yorkshire is old hat, east origin v west origin means two decent sides, majority from Huddersfield/Leeds/Bradford against majority from wigan/Warrington/St Helens.

| It's better than the international origin, the crowd get involved and the crowds were very good last time it ran even without the RFL using all its marketing budget on one game

Think us 'Hullies' might be able to contribute a few too!
Welham and Yeaman are the joint leading scorers this year. Dobson would be a shoe in for me at 7. Briscoe, O'Meely and Manu from the FC squad, possibly Newton from Rovers.
Maybe we should do Hull Vs the rest (it's the stock Hull mentality anyway!)

or maybe an equally arbitrary construct of a team of 'some' players who are English against a team of players who are NZ, Australian, Tongan, and Samoan.

| It's never been all that popular and probably never will. If there was a Roses match this year it wouldn't have got the attendance that the international origin game did.

| You fools can you not see? In whatever form it takes (Yorks V Lancs, East v West, Possibles v Probables) we must have another representative tier within the game FOR ENGLAND/GB PLAYERS ONLY. The Exiles game? What nonsense this is. Why are we limiting the exposure of our own players to a representative higher tier in this way? We could have 34-40 of our own players with this exposure every season which would help to prepare them for international football. What do we do-give this exposure to second rate imports over our own. Lets not kid ourselves here. The Exiles was a second rate import team and not one of those players would land an Origin or a Kangaroos/NZ spot over here. It is an embarrasment that we did not hammer this team.
Give 40 of our blokes the chance to fight it our for an international spot over a three game series and you would see real intensity and players develop into international players before your eyes. Why can we not look after our own and add our own signature to the way we play? I'll give you a perfect illustration of why. We have a league full of Australian coaches like Mick Potter who would rather play an appallingly slow, 3rd rate Australian player such as Mark Herbert over a developing, raw local talent like Kyle Briggs because he is apparantly 'better defensively'. Briggs has now been shipped out on loan. We must maximise the limited opportunities we have in our game for players and coaches and remove the likes of Potter and Herbert now! I know all the arguments about visas and grandparent rules so lets further incentivise the clubs to develop origin players financially so it is not worth bringing these people over. We could use this new series as a vehicle to achieve this and it will need some radical thinking around the size of Superleague and it's length to make it fit the calendar. Having lived in Brisbane now for a year and witnessed the stunning origin spectacle, I am now even more convinced that the lack of terrestrial TV exposure and Australian/NZ imports are the major blight on our game and until this is corrected and we start to play the game in our own style, with our own core values we will never be competitive internationally. I could live with never winning another series against Australia in my lifetime as long as we were trying to do it in our own way. We must increase our terrestrial TV exposure, commit to this new series in the long term and save the Challenge Cup. How can we stand and watch this wonderful competition die like this? It's about time we regained some dignity even if it means losing for another 40 years, because the strategy of importing everything Australian clearly does not work.
As the TV deal negotiations are on-going, now is the time to build and commit to this three game series in whatever form it takes and stop penalising our own. The question of whether it should be Yorks V Lancs misses the point completely.

| give it another 5 years and London would hammer both of them....we've got 457,956,001 kids playing the game down here now
Answer...yes. It has more going for it than the exiles game, that's for sure.

Crowds got behind it, especially in Yorkshire. It was the players who weren't mad keen.

| Only way I'd like this back is if it was played at the level under England.
Blank weekend.
England vs Exiles
Yorkshire vs Lancashire
Cumbria vs The South
Wales vs France
Ireland vs Scotland
The county games would help fringe players compete, with the ultimate goal of getting either into the England squad or the Knights squad.
