Many will disagree, he won trophies, but it was dire to watch.

Couldn’t be happier. A coach who obsesses over watching every super league game multiple times a week.

People dont want to remember this but Wigan played very good rugby in 2012, 2013 when the squad was really strong.

It’s the later years when he didn’t have as good a team that he designed “Wane ball” to get results. With the talent he’ll have with England along with good assistants hope we can play some decent stuff.

Lockers to retire at the end of this season, not play next year but to be coaxing into playing in the World Cup!

He will most certainly offer the passion which many feel is lacking with Bennett. At the risk of sounding xenophobic I’m delighted we look to be going for an English coach for England. It will be interesting to see his views about picking Australians.

I cannot see Wane having Aussies in our squad. We know what Wane is about. He cant deliver a team talk of smashing the Aussies with several Aussies in your team!

Shaun Wane was made for one off high pressure must win matches. We made a final every year under him. He turned average players into great players. All the lads would run through Brick walls for him. I appreciate Wigans aggressive style got under peoples skins but at an international level that is exactly what we need.

It wasn’t mate, I loved it and I will love watching his England teams. I don’t sit there and think of the trophies we won and the finals we played and go off only they’d been more entertaining’. His Wigan team of 2012 contained the best attacking talent he’d ever had and it was a joy to watch, yet we didn’t win anything. It proved what he can do with top level attacking talent though.

When the crunch comes and the big games come round you know what you’ll get from a Shaun Wane team.

The perfect man to get players running through brick walls, and those small minded fans amongst us can continue to boo the national team.

The people who wanted him out of Wigan promised we’d see some entertaining rugby once he went. A year and a bit later and we’re still waiting.

I thought we were better to watch and did just as well under Mcnamarra bar the semi final luck.. I feel Wane's style is perfectly suited to the international game and am happy with his appointment he is the perfect fit imo and doesn't need to double up with the club game.

The right appointment but Wane has to realise that trying to win a wrestling match will not be enough.

Thank god it's not an extension for bennet, the GB debacle showed what utter contempt he had for the british game.

This is the most accurate post I've seen here for some time.

I think a few people are missing the point when it comes to entertaining rugby. If he was signing up to coaching another SL club they would be rightly concerned but he's not.

I've been watching RL since the early eighties during that time I've yet to see us win a test series against Australia or win the World Cup.

How many on here would care about the lack of entertainment on show if it meant a hard earned ground out 2-1 ashes win against Australia or a World Cup win?

Of course its great if you can have both but you take the success if it comes the hard way regardless.
