Tough call as I don't think either of them has a clue tbh. The only plus for Cunningham is that he has a first choice half to come back. Leeds recruitment has been dire to say the least!

Leeds basically haven't bothered with recruitment in the close season.
They are severely lacking decent leadership and having Maguire calling the shots is a mistake.
At his best, he was a great support player and having lose a yard of pace, he isn't as effective in that role.
To see Hardaker waltzing past them at will says everything you need to know.
One of the best players on their books is ripping it up for one of their local rivals



The saving grace for McDermott is the treble, only 2 seasons ago, which is hard to believe now.

If you mean Zak - he is not on Leeds Rhino's books.

He is currently on loan from Leeds'. If an agreement to make the transfer permanent if the future exists it still wouldn't alter the fact that he is on Leeds' books.

Agreed! Unless they $hit a miracle in the next month their season could be over by Easter. They probably need to win 3 of the next 4 for it not to be a total write off. Wigan h, Leigh a, Saints a, FC h. But then again I'm watching my own mob through my fingers.

He could be gone if they lose at home to Wigan on Thursday evening, but i can't believe a coach like Tony Smith with the squad he has at the Wolves will lose 4 on the trot.

Good question this one with the inclusion of Smith and Betts. Are there any obvious replacements who could do a better job?

Nobody obvious i can think of, but possibly some out of work NRL coaches my money would be on.

Laurent Fraysinnous desrves to be fired because he has a squad equal to the best, but they have under-performed under his management.

Dennis Betts deserves to be fired for not retaining Kevin Brown regardless of the cost, and for not buying any decent players.

Ian Watson deserves to be fired for not speaking up against Marwan Koukash's decision to buy the alcoholic trouble maker Todd Carney, when Michael Dobson and Robert Lui are doing a good job.

Keiron Cunningham deserves to be fired because of his unsightly anxious [ivisage[/i, which suggests that he has a serious bout of constipation.

Brian McDermott deserves to be fired for letting the homophobic tattooed man Zachary Hardaker go to Castleford.

as for McDermott, the signings have been,frankly, mediocre. mullally, ormandroyd etc. lots of the players such as walters are championship level.
others are over the hill. mcguires been a better player than most think, much more than a support player. sadly those days are long gone.

recruitment needs to be a million times better quality wise and we need a coach who can improve players and actually coach a structure and shape.

No - Another board decision - blame Hetherington for that one although SL is now a lot better place now we have a tuned-in Hardaker on form.

I'm wondering if Maguire's still a SL standard player, he doesn't seem to have delivered for a while now. As far as the first coach to be queuing outside the local job centre's concerned, I'm increasingly in the Tony Smith camp - Wire are the only SL side without a point this season so far.

That is the same man, whom it transpired, could not stop drinking alcohol to excess and damaging French bar and restaurant premises.

McGuire was excellent in our treble winning season of 2015.last year was pretty much wiped out for him through injury. Old father time is catching up with him now though he is mid 30's, and he does appear on the early evidence of this season to be coming to the end and he is not the only one in the Leeds squad right now looking that way.

Cunningham. I can't see how you can sack a manager who has his own statue in the town
McDermot. Leeds are always loyal to their managers.
Smith. Been too successful in recent years.

I do not foresee any change before end of season, but then my pick would be McDermot

If Cunningham doesn't get sacked it's obvious he has some dirt on McManus. I can't remember such an inept coach since McDermott in 2016-2017

The problem with both Cunningham and McDermott is that their respective clubs show them massive amounts of loyalty.

That's deserved up to a point, but in the case of McDermott I'd say he burned through all of that last year, and really needed to show much more this year. I have sympathy for him re lack of recruitment, but I wouldn't be surprised if the whole club bought into the excuse-athon of last year, and so expected McGuire to come back and run the show, Burrow to be a genuine halfback for the first time in a decade, and numerous others to 'get back to their best' when in fact they are simply either past it or never had the ability in the first place.

I could see both McDermott and/or Cunningham stepping down if results don't pick up. Less sure that it'll happen before the season's end though. In any case, the season's only 3-4 games old so both could yet pick up.
