| The Independent has today published the musings of a bloke from Leigh in their Letters section, who suggests that those people who have enjoyed/endured the RUWC might want to give League a viewing too.

| After an admittedly not hugely extensive Google search all I can find out is he finished playing rugby in France, it didn't specify league or union. As it just used the term rugby I'm guessing Union though.
Someone on another site suggested he was on St Helens' books around the turn of the century and then went playing Union in Warrington.

It's like this BBC article www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/34419249 about doping being widespread in rugby. By and large the article is about Union, but it only features on the League area of the site. Strange that.

| There is no media agenda against rugby league in England. Yes we have had to get politicians involved because it is so obvious but but but....
The Burgess reporting confirms what was already widely known.

Good example of how hopeless the BBC are. Thurston is a rugby league star and the doll was hardly what captivated a peak of over 4.2 million Australians. The game did. Smashing the AFL by some margin in the process.

I have no doubt that some Rugby Union biased journalists in this country have an agenda against RL including some at the BBC however I read that piece differently. It was referencing Thurston in an article about alleged racism towards indigenous people in Australian sport rather than an article about Rugby League.

| Precisely my point. This doll issue was a non-event in Australia. The game however was massive and has seen people from countless other sports comment on its sheer quality. The BBC saw fit not to report on that but to find some curious agenda which was hidden to the vast bulk of Australians.
Further, rugby league people in Australia take great offence and rightly so at being lumped in with the AFLs disastrous treatment of Adam Goodes. It is a total irrelevance to the Australian rugby league community which has embraced indigenous players for many decades.

| Whilst I'm not one to defend the BBCs perceived Union bias, to be fair they've pretty much just nicked that Thurston article from the Sydney Morning Herald;

| They obviously missed the other 1000s of articles on the quality of the game while including that particular one selectively. But as long as it's perceived...well I am happy.

Except it didn't.
It was also on the Union section of the BBC Sport website, albeit a bit further down given they've got something quite important going at the moment.
Still, carry on with the rampant paranoia if it helps you sleep at night.

RUGBY LEAGUE
"doping is widespread".

| "Rugby league star" haha- did he even play a first team game?
He's only called a "rugby league star" because he's spent time at her majesty's pleasure.
He's spent more time inside than on the pitch.

| Another win for quality coverage in the UK. You would have to be a complete simpleton to not see the agenda.
Even the general public have tagged on to how it works with #blameburgess. lol

By rampant paranoia do you mean a fair and reasonable interpretation of what I've seen? I'm an intelligent guy so please don't patronise me. Look at the article, it was classified as a rugby league story, not union or both, while most of the content focused on union.
But then you probably couldn't see that as you're an agenda driven troll.

| galliant,
Took you off ignore as a mod said you had been banned as an obvious union troll with nothing to add. Yet you are back. Obviously the moderation needs work here.
Not to worry, back on ignore. Have a happy life. You may wish to consider getting some treatment for why as a union troll you spend so much time on a rugby league board. Don't bother replying. I won't be reading it. haha
Toodles.

| As for the thread substance rather than the troll, the fact the #blameburgess joke is so widely known says it all about how transparent union's pathetic agenda is. What sort of a gormless sport tries to blame the new bloke who has been there less than 1 year while ignoring the dozens who have played the game all their lives? Almost the very definition of failing to take responsibility for their actions. Truly laughable.

| Listened to TalkSport for an hour and a half this morning and forty minutes at lunch and not one mention of the SL Grand Final. The Wales v Australia game was heavily covered, with repeat features on it and several interviews on it. They went on several times about the massive weekend of sport coming, then previewed Wales v Australia again, listed every race in the horse racing and every international football game, then every Union World Cup game. Not even a mention for the GF. TalkSport historically has always mentioned league, even if not showing any real interest in it. To not even mention the biggest game of RL of the year, when they routinely at least list the fixtures and results is bizarre. Makes you wonder whether it's a deliberate omission, perhaps due to their deal with the RUWC? Are Union really going back to the 80s and 90s and actively seeking to prevent the media covering RL? Or is it just the Union-biased producers being fools?
