| According to bbc sports, a bid for the Bradford Bulls was approved by the RFL on Tuesday.
This looks like a major hurdle is clear and hopefully a formal announcement will follow ?

| Did I read right that the ppl bidding want certain conditions met and one of them is that the Bulls are certified to stay in Super League?
I dont really agree with that tbh, and will the RFL actually agree to a condition that dictates what they can or cant do with a failed Super League club?

Only for the current licensing period, not forever! It's a valid criteria to have.

| Quote ="Guilfoyle"that the bid put forward by the consortium would be conditional on the Bulls being allowed to continue in Super League and lease back Odsal, which is owned by the RFL.
"The best the RFL will get is a conditional bid," he told BBC Look North.
"The consortium I'm dealing with won't move forward with the club in the second tier. It would be a totally different business model.
"If this bid isn't accepted by them then this club will cease to exist and I will have failed."'"
Seems to me Guilfoyle is really putting the gun to the RFL’s head with his comments.
The bit I don’t understand is the comment regarding the lease.
Does this statement mean they want to lease back Odsal or is it a typo & it means the consortium wants the lease in their name, for whatever reason.

The consortium wants to buy the lease back from the RFL. They're not demanding it for free.

Is it? Licensing terms state they can be revoked at any stage etc etc.
End of the season fine. But then must prove to keep working to award the licensing aims etc as any other club would be.

| Caveats may be needed refn the lease buy back imo and it must not be sold less than it was bought for. The lease has real value for redevelopment of the site in the wrong hands.
Interesting few days ahead

Yes, it's valid. It's valid to ask the RFL if the Bulls will be ejected from SL within the current licensing period for their financial problems, and for that answer to be key to whether the deal goes through or not.

| Its going to be hilarious how the RFL will come out in the next day or so saying the deal should be accepted but they haven't made any guarantees.
I guess its lucky for the RFL that their new PR guy Comical Al should be along in a matter of hours to explain.

I know what the consortium want but that wasn’t my point.
I was referring to the BBC statement which says.
[iAdministrator Brendan Guilfoyle revealed last week that the bid put forward by the consortium would be conditional on the Bulls being allowed to continue in Super League [uand lease back Odsal[/u, which is owned by the RFL.[/i
I was alluding to the ambiguity of the statement and querying if it was a typing error.

| Both of the 'conditions' seem entirely reasonable; as ever though, the devil is in the detail.
In respect of SL - if they want a guarantee that they'll inherit the Bulls current licence on the same terms and conditions as every other club, including the potential for it to be revoked at any time, then that seems eminently sensible.
Equally, if they want to buy back the Odsal lease, that also seems a very sensible aspiration; provided the RFL sell it to ABC at no loss, I can't see anyone having an issue with that either.

Think it is a case of not having the terms scrapped for the current situation which if they invest in the club they will be solving (as long as the RFL and Administrator do their job to inspect finances etc) if they then go and do something against the terms of the SL in future they will be accountable as any of the other 13 clubs would be. Seems fair to me.

| I'm supportive of Bradford's plight and especially the people who have lost their jobs but this deal may change my opinion.
It will be a loss to the league if Bradford go under and I don't want that to happen, however, if the new consortium are demanding things that will put them in an unfair advantage, or will damage the integrity of the league then I am much less supportive of the club.
At Wakefield, Andrew Glover put a plan in place to save Wakefield. He in fact had two plans, one was a model to support the club if they were "relegate" and one if not. That kind of attitude shows that he wanted the club to survive no matter what. It wasn't just about now but a long term plan.
These guys seem to be playing chicken with the rugby league to get a deal just because they know the RFL don't want them to be lost as a club and they don't want to have an asset of Odsal that isn't being used.
They should put a plan in place for the RFL to review and see if they are worthy of a franchise, not demand it or else.

| The problem with the potential buyers asking the RFL to guarantee Bulls' SL place in 2013 and 2014 is that the transfer of the 2012-14 license to the new company hast to be approved by a vote of the other 13 SL clubs. And, of course, the RFL can't guarantee how clubs will vote.

| Got to love all these deadlines Guilfoyle comes up with that are effectively meaningless. Other than to extend his involvement and enable him to milk it for more fees, obviously.
So what deal are this consortium offering the creditors then?

| So basically its "we want to buy Bradford, but we wont unless you ensure they are kept in Super League". If I were the RFL I'd take exception to that, it sounds a bit gun to head.
Surely if they just wanted the club to survive they wouldnt mind the possibility of demotion, and starting back up.
Wouldnt shock me if there if the RFL just turn around and say "we cant ensure it, its your risk to take".

No it doesnt. RFL have already clarified that final decision is theirs and they can overrule any vote by the clubs.
