| Played another great game for the Storm, set up 3 tries including 2 length of the field efforts.
Must be a shoe in for the England No6 shirt.

| Who's his competition for 6 for England? Brown? hardly worldclass, Widdop is as you say a shoe-in, but i doubt the storm will release him for this game as its not a full international

| He's going well.
Just don't expect miracles when he's not playing with Smith, Slater and Cronk.

| Despite the disappointments of the last 4 Nations, it seems like it was a good idea to get Widdop to nail his colours to the England mast. I haven’t seen him play this year but he is getting rave reviews in the NRL at 6 and if he plays a full year there then surely he has a chance to play stand off for England
I think his game would complement Brough at 7 and we could actually have a good kicking game from English halves... unheard of in recent history!
We have some good young athletic outside backs playing well in the Super League this year and well off for forwards
I’m beginning to feel optimistic about the English team (which is a bit silly of me as I have had 25 years of hurt but I just can’t help myself!)

| Hope we see him putting Tomkins in under the posts like he did for Slater today. Should be 6 if he keeps up this form but shouldn't be an automatic inclusion just cause he is in the NRL.
But at least players seem to be coming through in some of their weaker positions. Weaker compared to Australia and NZ anyway.
Those outside backs jsut have to learn how to defend now.

| What's the logic behind his move from 1 to 6? Last I saw of him he was tearing things up from fullback, did he move forward to accommodate Slater? Certainly as good as Tomkins without the awful attitude.

When was the last time you saw him play in the NRL at full back?
Good to see him playing well, keep it up

Danny Brough.

| just watched the game, he was excellent operating on the left 3 assists and looks dangerous every time in attack, cronk equally effective on the right. melbourne look very good at the moment their defence is excellent, can see them winning it this year

| I love the look of Widdop but IMO a Brown and Brough partnership could be succesful due to the understanding the players have. They can already play together, why change it when they play so well together?
Widdop or Tomkins at FB one of them off the bench maybe?

| So....you suggest we should put two Huddersfield halfbacks in the team at the expense of either one of the best players in SL and a kid who looks like a star in the far tougher NRL?
whatever McNamara achieves, getting Widdop for England is looking a really good move. He should tap up Jack Reed who plays wing/centre for the Broncos too (English parents but has said he wants to play Origin).

| We've got a very talented young stand off playing SG Ball this year who is English as well, I'd be getting him signed up to the Jnr English team and committed to the English cause before he makes the NRL.

I don't think Widdop would switch to Australia to be fair (if he wants to win he has to find a Kiwi grandparent) But I get what you're saying, that's the major problem with International RL. You should not be able to switch nationality once you've played for someone, ever.

Why not? Give a reason.
I am suggesting that putting a partnership in the team rather than 2 good individuals will be better for the TEAM... is that such a crazy suggestion? They play together week in week out and I think would be far more effective than Widdop and Tomkins at 6 and 7.
