You can actually. If someone lends you money, they you're in debt and you owe it them back. If they give you money, you're not and you don't.
Given that the Quins chairman has stated on record that the club has no debts or overdraft … and he's the man who supplies the money to make up the shortfall between operating income and expenditure … I think we can safely assume that he doesn't want the money back, it's not a loan, and irrespective of the operating loss they make they don't money to anyone.
Oh … and citing RLFans posts as evidence of anything doesn't really work.

Well, it's reported as such. Harlequins have creditors > 1 year in their balance sheet of £6,268,283, which are classed as subordinated loans with a note as follows: Loans are provided by DJ Hughes and I Lenagan for the amounts of £4,176,276 and £2,092,007 respectively. These loans are non-interest bearing and subordinated behind all other creditors of the company.

you are aware all current SL clubs gave written agreement stating they wouldn't challenge the decision of the licensing in 2011 and wouldn't challenge the decision on losing their franchise.
any club who did challenge the ruling would not only lose a large sum of money going to court, but also laughed out of court!

| Good good. Now if they can see sense and stop thinking about promoting one of those awful, hill billy Championship clubs we can move on with our (Slightly less than) Super League.
I just don't see progress in adding Widnes and removing another team of very similar stature. Where is the benefit? Geographically they are the worst placed, they aren't good on the field and their crowds are only going to be slightly better. The RFL needs to think further ahead and put proper plans in place, involving really well thought out franchises. The whole point of SL was to establish franchises and ensure stability and progress, swapping and changing the also rans isn't anything like progress.

| I assume that the guarantee of promoting a Championship side was only valid for this rouind of franchising? That may mean no return is possible for whichever club loses out. If that is the case, and the team to lose out is one of Cas/Wakey, would it not make sense (at least for the club facing the chop) for them to consider a merger?
I'm glad someone from the RFL has stated what some on here clearly want to deny, that Quins are very important to the game as a whole. I suspect that part of this process will expose the fact that one or more of the clubs looking at a new ground has absolutely no hope of getting there.

I refered to morons. YOU refered to Wakefield! You clearly have a low opinion of your fellow supporters.
It will be Cas or Wakey going down. Rimmer will make sure facilities and sound finances are given considerable weight. Clubs who have a record of poor finances and no guarenteed backing will be highly vunerable.

Widnes are capable of becoming a club the size of Warrington. Not exactly a disaster if that happens is it? When Widnes get in SL it gives every club (like mine) outside SL the glimmer of hope that if you do things properly off the field, you get rewarded for it. And your point about how poor Widnes are on the pitch isn't really valid, they pretty much played with their reserves for the first half of the season such were the injury problems and they will win the championship by a mile this year.

They still owe him though. If he doesn't want it then that's his problem. Stating that the club has no debts doesn't hide the fact that it can't survive without someone throwing money at it. There is no difference in the long term. Owing money now and not being able to be profitable is ultimately the same thing as not owing anyone now and not being profitable. The only difference is they may be able to hang on for another year or so.
And as for the source. I couldn't be bothered registering with companies house, requesting the document and uploading it on to here when the figure is already there! Prove to me that figure is wrong.

| What is slightly amusing to me, in an ironic way, is that the references to Huddersfield coming bottom and not being relegated...(despite no clubs suitable to come into SL, when there was, Hudds got relegated)
Those seasons at the bottom happened in part because rather than throw money at journeymen aussies the club built up and developed their academy.
Now they have 6 players in the England squad - whereas the teams that didnt come bottom because they threw money at journeymen aussies are still bumping along just out of relegation, throwing money at journeymen aussies and on the brink of being chucked out of SL for not developing their academy...
Just something to ponder there.

| Roofs....Quins are producing players now. They've faced a challenge in getting the message of RL to the people of London...admittedly, I agree they could have been better marketed without a doubt! But players are coming through. The Academy started players off at 15/16 yrs old (when the club and RFL started to bang on about the amount of youngsters playing etc.) now, 5 or so years on we are starting to see a Quins team that is dominated by young English players. Tony Clubb (playing with England - albeit, probably won't get a game!) and LMS (now snapped up by St Helens) were the first couple that came through. Now there are players like Olsi Krasniqi who have the potential to be even better...Quins and London born players will soon come into the league and start filling other clubs squads. You can't expect that to happen in 1 or 2 years though!
Code13...I fully agree with your point, academy structures and future planning with your squad is critical...many more clubs could look closer to home other than Australia (my post on Leeds latest signing highlights that).
