| The Welsh team South Wales Scorpions, who have only being in existence for five months, are made up of 99% Welsh players and had no pre season training, recored another victory today scoring a massive 70 points to move upto 5 place in the table up against clubs who have being in existence for over 100 years.
I think 2012 will be a little early but Scorpions for super league 2015!!!

| I bet their average is around the 620 mark, I've not seen all their figures but they seem to range from 500 to a one off 800 on easter monday.
They're not exactly 99% welsh are they either, in the full squad I think (not completely sure) there's one Englishman and an Aussie, maybe 2 overseas players.
Before they could ever be in SL they'd have to be moved from their current ground.

Could you explain your troll comment please? What post/posts have I made that can be labeled as trolling?
Admittedly Widnes till i die is a troll, but that isnt me!!! It is possible for more than one person to live in the same house. He isnt even a Widnes fan he supports Salford. Id be more than happy for him to be banned.

| Back on topic. Ok no technically not 99% but its pretty close. Two none Welsh players though is very impressive and just shows the potential down there. The ground is better than current Super League grounds and attendances are better than a number of other teams in the league and will continue to grow. You have to remember the club has only existed for five months. Whats needed now is a five year plan to apply for Super League 2015. Two Super League clubs would allow Wales to compete with the Aussies and Kiwi's at international level.

The ground is on a par with the Brewery Field and let's be honest it's not a SL ground by any means. I've watched a few of the Scorpions games and to be fair with the little preparation they had this season they've done very well and a play off place is by no means out of the question. Great to see a side starting off on a proper footing and gives good reasons to believe RL can prosper in Wales.

Would they have to move into a Top State of the Art SL Stadium like Odsal, The Jungle, Wakefield's Stadium with whatever name it's called these days, The Willows, or Knowlesly Road?? The richest club in SL, Leeds play in a Stadium ith open Terracing and a sand pit for a pitch. Yes it may take the Scorpions a while to catch up to these high standards.

No, no, no, no, no. South Wales (the region not the club) have already been gifted one crack at Super League and we all know it failed miserably. I went to Bridgend last year, spoke to a few locals and they didn't have a clue who Celtic Crusaders were despite them being yards from the stadium they played at.
Personally IF South Wales Scorpions are still playing in 2020 and being successful in producing young talent (reflected by a semi-competitive Welsh team) then the RFL should look at it but until then I wouldn't get burnt fingers twice. Five years is too soon in my view to try again.
I would rather see the Scorpions being a feeder club for Crusaders. Having been to Wrexham Saturday just gone I saw a surprisingly packed home stand. They have the stadium and investment in place there and I think Super League fans will warm to travelling to the Racecourse. I'm more convinced Wrexham might work than I was before I visited.

| Scorpions have said they have no intention of applying for SL in the forseeable future, they are a grassroots club and are concentrating on developing Welsh players. The only non-Welsh player in the squad is Loz Wildbore (Andrew Gay was raised in Australia but is Welsh-born) and the club have said they are not really interested in signing non-Welsh players, any signings made will be juniors or Union converts. The club have only budgeted for crowds of 4-500 and so are currently turning a profit, but they aren't even thinking about promotion into the Championship for the time being, if it happens then great but they are looking to lay foundations as a club and capitalise on the community work done by the Crusaders when they were down here. The OP is a troll and nobody should listen to him.

I'm impressed with the amount of welsh players in the Scorpions squad. What are their facilities like? Decent enough to hold a Wales international?

The Gnoll isn't up to SL standard by any stretch of the imagination. The Capacity is about 6000 & its at least as good as Sardis Road, where the Wales - Ireland game was held last year. To be fair, Scotland and Ireland were better than France at the last world cup, so this is hardly a radical prediction. Unlike Scotland/Wales/Ireland/Fiji/Samoa/Tonga, they don't get to pick too many Aussies.
At the current rate of progress in Wales (and lack of it in France), the numbers playing at amateur level might not be hugely different in a few years time. (Currently around 15 clubs in Wales vs around 70 in France.)

| I've seen worse places to start. Looks okay that. I think it would be a good idea to play a Wales game there at the same time as the England mid-season international.

The reward of a place in the 2011 Four Nations will make the Euro Nations at the end of the season an exciting competition, especially the Wales France game. If they win it could be massive for the game in Wales.

On the budget cuts thread, in the sin bin, you spout a load of rubbish, get completely bossed in the discussion, and try to change the subject by randomly bringing Robert Mugabe into the discussion. Here you get shown up as a troll with no knowledge of the team you apparently support, so you make spurious claims that im a troll and a salford fan (im not sure quite what i have to do with a thread on the south wales scorpions), in a way which to be brutally honest comes across as a pathetic attempt at deflecting attention away from your lack of knowledge.
Did anyone fall for it:

Really?
The comparison with NZ is hardly fair, there are probably more than 10 times as many players who can qualify for NZ playing in the NRL than there are welsh players playing in SL.
