Anyhow, going for a close Saints win 18-16.

That Saints pack is beasting Wigan atm and the speed of the PTB has been fast from them. Playing really well and good for the 12 point lead.

Wigan without Samuel Tomkins and John Bateman is demoralised and ineffective. St Helens will win and Catalans with Tomkins and Gigot will be in the top 4.

Lost the discipline in that 5 minute period Saints, giving 2 or 3 pens away and Wigan is gonna score if you give them that many chances in your 20.

Grace has been susssed under the high ball.

Funny half of RL that, saints came out playing some great stuff and then a few penalties and errors gave Wigan a way back in and they've gained momentum since. Good game so far.

Saints have been their own worst enemy in the second half of the 1st half. Absolutely thrown away their good start and lead so cheaply.

TBF that first half sums up Saints' campaign last year.

6 errors from Saints, 3 from Wigan. Wigan far better completion rate as well.

Half time came at the right time for saints. Some of their forwards don’t look to have the engine in that second quarter. Dropping off some marker tackles which Wigan took advantage of.

Don’t like the Wigan play acting though. A few times some faint touches been made to loom like they’ve been shot.

Yeah the Tommy L one was a bit over the top, the Saints player put a bit of an arm out and Tommy went down like he'd been clipped on the chin

Saints must be easing Walmsley back in, went off after about 20 in the first and comes back with just 15 minutes in the 2nd.

James Roby and Theodore Fages are controlling the game perfectly.

Understandable and also doesn’t hurt that Wigan have pretty much played the match with 16 men with Clubb lasting a couple of minutes.

Very good game, fast and high quality which impressive. At this stage in the season.

About as much chance of a certain Chorley gentleman getting his French one.

Good game.Wigan are tough and get that extra second in the tackle but Saints deserved the win. He didn't get much open field but Coote looked a little slow? Defensively sound and maybe spoilt by watching Barba but he seemed a bit heavy legged?

Dogged by Wigan but will need more than that. Still early days though.

WIgan look to still have the Wane toughness in them and will be hard to score against, although when the fewer interchanges and sped up game kick in on bodies after several weeks that might be harder to maintain. Attack wise they need Williams to fire, got nothing from their halves tonight and Williams can blow hot and cold, they need the better version of him more often than not. Hardaker did ok considering it was his first SL game in 16 months.

Saints pretty much as expected and look like the top 2 team most predicted but Coote won’t offer them near enough what Barba did last year when he could be bothered so won’t streak away like they did last year.

Theodore Fages was chosen by Terence O'Connor of Sky Sports as Man of the Match.

Wigan coach Adrian Lam blundered massively by not playing game changer Morgan Escare off the bench.

Cracking game. As said Wigan look just as tough as before and that game should do them good for the WCC. It’ll be interesting to see if Lam can get that little 1% extra out of Wigan that Wane seemed able to do. That ability to run through brick walls regardless of how much it hurts.

I doubt he will but then he might add something extra over the season to compensate.
