| It seems that both the SL GF and Championship GF will both be played by the clubs finishing 1st & 2nd in the respective leagues.
Toulouse overcame a very gritty performance by part time Batley and the final score flattered Toulouse a little.
Fev also ran away with the game v Fax in the 2nd half (some strange refereeing decisions in that one, particularly the 2 sin binnings.
Toulouse v Fev should be a cracker

With the Championship game being played in France, Toulouse will probably win.
As for the SL Final, Saints look very, very good but, it could be close 2-4 points either way

Toulouse will be far more 'fresher' having only played 14 league games compared to Featherstone's 29 league & cup games.

Batley's coach commented that a few of the Toulouse players were 'cramping up' on Saturday. Another game under their belts will definitely help them in terms of match fitness

| Are the winners guaranteed as SL spot, whether as 1 of 12 (replacing Leigh) or as one of 10 (if 10 + 10 reorginisation) - or is it TBC ?
Could it be that Toulouse are treated differently than Fev depending upon circumstances (would they want 2 French teams in a 10 team league, or would they prefer that than having Fev in top league etc?)

The new structure is due to come in after next season, isn't it.
In terms of what happens if "we" go with a 2 x 10 structure, you are right to question how clubs will be treated though.
It was a clear as mud when the last franchise system was implemented and considering that 2 of the "favoured" expansion clubs (Newcastle and York) would have been "culled" is the top 20 was chosen on this seasons league standings and that certainly wouldn't go down too well n some quarters.
The 2 x 10 is almost as bad as the 3 x 8's though and will do yet more damage to the sport.

A number of SL clubs pushed hard on the 2x10 and last week were noted for their determination, but those opposed have equally dug in and the whisper (as this decision affects a lot of stakeholders there are a lot of people discussing it in the meetings and consequently outside the meetings providing a lot of leaks). Latest is no agreement likely so apparently it stays 2x12.
So MPG goes ahead and the winner replaces Leigh, who have Koukash on board to help Beaumont to launch a stronger assault on becoming an SL regular.

as it was always going to be. No amount of rumour and keyboard warriordom was ever going to change it.....the winner will be promoted. If they are not, then the game needs to seriously consider where it wants to be in 5 years time, because for the last 16 years, we've had one of 3 names on the trophy and in the same period we've had Catalans join, whist Bradford, London and Widnes were relegated, Castleford bounced and Leigh pop in now and again, we've had licencing, super 8's, a reduction from 14 to 12....not forgetting the lunacy of Toronto, Hemel moving to Canada.....not to mention the last 2 grand finals have been tense arm wrestles delivering just 5 tries in 160 minutes of a game we have self appointed the greatest, but which in reality is in a downward spiral.
In the same period of time, Football, Union & Cricket have made great strides and increased their incomes and attendances, but we just worry about Toulouse replacing Leigh which means little to either the SKY TV deal nor the attendances across the season.
Personally, I think the 2022 RFL Championship will be an absolute belter of a comp. Whilst everyone tries to get to the GF an then lose to Saints, Wigan or Leeds, the 2nd tier is wide open....I can't wait

| Good luck to Fev, not sure how many times they've been in this position, right back to when Wakey got promoted.
It would add a lot of spice to games versus Cas & Wakefield & decent attendances too.

| I haven't seen much of Fev this season, but I'd guess that was their worst performance of the season.
Congratulations to Toulouse though, fully deserved.

They played 14 more games in total than Toulouse ( inc. the 2 cup competitions that Toulouse didn't want to enter)

If your pit village side can't be bothered to plan ahead and create an "event" when Catalan, Toulouse, London etc are in town, then that's on them.
Personally I hope Toulouse buy an NRL squad and challenge for the play offs next year....another deadwood club that's been holding back SL will drop down....between Wakey, Salford and Huddersfield at present. HKR have employed a cracking coach (what were warrington thinking??)

Wire were spanked by London/Quins 60-8 about a week after Tony Smith was appointed Head Coach......they went on to win 3 of the next 4 Challenge Cups and made 4 Grand Finals.....I think he's one of the best coaches of his generation and I can only see HKR challenging for silver again next year

I could also say Pit Villages inhabited by northern monkeys, but that would upset the monkeys
You carry on being woke buddy. If you think I mean disrespect to the miners who stood shoulder to shoulder with in the 80's, then so be it, but the reality is we now have 2 French sides, 6 from Yorkshire(s) 3 from Manchester an a Merseyside team......to us southern softies, you're all pit villages
Only time I've ever been in handcuffs was at Cresswell in 1984 and I'll tell my grandchildren I was proud to be there and arrested....not bad for cowardly tw@.....

The point stands that, without the pit villages and the breakaway, there would not be a sport called rugby league.
And, yes, Trinity fans always made an occasion of the London away fixture, glad you enjoyed it.

Without Newton Heath there would be no Manchester Utd. The world has moved on, sadly RL is struggling with that concept. Its the new Speedway.
