They weren't plonked into Super League. They gained their place on merit,by winning games on the field, without any money from the broadcast deal,or financial assistance from anywhere else.
It looks like from a small acorn...other smaller acorns have been formed.
I hope it progresses.

that's brilliant news for Canadian rugby league this is what should of happened in the first place instead of piggy backing on the back of Super league, it just makes sense only a complete moron would with no financial sense would back anything other than,
lets hope Ottawa also see's sense too and joins that league rather going down another financial ruin
maybe the winners of that league could then play the winners of the championship and help develop it further here's wishing them the best of luck

| Good news but it is a very big market to crack. Union spent big money taking Premiership games to the USA but flopped and cancelled it long before Covid. Both codes of Rugby would only be minority sports in the short to medium term. Its taken 'Soccer' decades to grab a foothold.

Not every club or match is an attempt to build a professional game. Can't they just play for the fun of it??
Canada RL promotes and facilitates the playing of RL as an alternative to Union, and that creates sporting choices.
It's very welcome to see real Canadians playing some Rugby League, we haven't seen much of that the last few years..

No let's not have "Ottawa Aces". Lets just have a local Ottawa amateur club playing league in Canada because some real Canadians prefer to play it rather than union..
We seem to have programmed ourselves to dump impossible ambitions on people in other countries who just want to play RL for fun....

we know Ottawa aces are just a name but there is no reason in discrediting there existence there's no problem having a second team from that area if there is enough players to do so after all there was intentions of them entering division one like Toronto did however that's like poking yourself in the eye for a second time.
just maybe now there has been enough news to get others interested to get that league started even if it was semi pro its far better situation than before

I don’t think anybody is out to crack a market. That lesson must certainly have been learnt. Once people understand you can’t run before you walk is the time to crack the market.
You simply can’t take on a market without infrastructure.

Ottawa aces are not just a name they have signed players, but it remains to be seen if they ever play, the last lot paid out many £Millions and reneged on $Millions and the owners of Ottawa OSEG don't have the money. How much do you think it will cost to operate Ottawa as a semi-pro club back and forwards across the Atlantic?
The real subject here is Canada RL, who have organised an Amateur RL tournament which is a great leap forward from them having no tournament at all. However that's nothing new RL Tournaments have taken place in BC. No doubt many ex-pat and heritage Antipodean Rugby Union players will play out this competition.
It's not a matter of me discrediting their existence, its a matter of not projecting any amateur club who wants to play grass roots RL into even a semi professional club. This in not much different to the story in Scotland where few play RL and recently nobody played it. Some lads are now organising something for fun. But they won't be playing in the Championships ever.

The players signed were/are still on the Wikipedia site, but that's a brilliant piece of work from you (as usual) to confirm Aces are no more.
So I rejoice in Bob Jowetts Canada RL organisation of an amateur Rugby League tournament. Long may he keep such a foothold going. That's all it is but it supports the basis of a Canada RL international side that will keep the game going there. Not a semi or pro-club playing here.....
It may be worth remembering that Jowett put up a stall at a Wolfpack game promoting Canada RL. He was selling merchandise and cheap memberships to Canada RL. At half time Argylle was approaching the stall to Jowetts delight, but the guy just walked past it to Jowett's anger......
That anger being reflected in a piece in RL Express.....

Oh dear, I'm sorry to p!ss on your bonfire but reading that link it just reeks of another bull statement from perez, this man is well known to sell sand to the Arabs and ice to the Eskimos,
I mean for a start he states that he had signed the bulk of the players for the 2021 season, well bulk would mean a large amount someone needs to tell him that you need minimum 18 players and at least another 10 just in case of injuries and that would of been bulk as you would probably need another 3-8 more he only signed 17, what's going to make it harder for them next time they try to build a team is he pulled out of contracts leaving players scrambling for clubs that's hardly going to be forgotten very quickly, as for video meetings every Tuesday I'd love to what they talk about.
What they need to do is get involved with the new Canadian league which has been mentioned rather offer advice which has been mentioned too. Baffles me to what advice they could offer as it's not like they've been around playing is it

Sorry to dampen your negativity, but we should be supporting these projects. If they get to the starting line next year it will be a great achievement given the year everyone has had and a great show of resilience, which is one Rugby league's core attributes.

Perez now has an appalling record of all talk and no substance. His OSEG backers don't currently have the £30 million needed to survive in the game here for a few seasons whilst it all falls apart. Players may get it that if you go there because it's supposedly more money you may not get back once your not actually paid.....
The oddity about these things is if someone were to set up a club anywhere in the UK where they don't play RL and boast of Superleague in a few years the same people who project every fledgling overseas project into a new Melbourne Storm would be scoffing at the idea...
Rugby League actually started in Canada in 1928, it's been a bit up and down ever since and still will be in 2028...

What do you think he loves the most? Rugby league or Eric Perez?
He ran Canada RL and did nothing with it, he ran Toronto Wolfpack and walked away, he set up Ottawa and it dissolved to nothing.
He loves himself, the fledgling game there makes him a big fish in a small pool.
Foundations? The grid iron conversions project he willingly spoke about for ages. When it came to the hard yards nothing. Despite him having control of Canada RL, nothing.
All he was after was a TV camera in his face and his voice across the airwaves....

On the flip side though Toronto have drawn bigger crowds than most clubs in super league and have only been alive 4 years
So who knows what it will do after a decade
But I'm pretty certain rugby league will be bigger in canada/US than here
If we're been honest the UK game is "one crack" from going part time due to lack of ambition and many many mistakes over the decades
Think some fans just got embarrassed that Toronto crowds were dwarfing Huddersfield and Salfords crowds whilst in league 2

How many paid to get in, how many stayed in the beer tents, how genuine were TWP's crowds stats.
TWP were brought in to bring a new player pool to the game and paying TV deals. Perez himself said that.
Crowds were not the aim of bringing TWP into the game but were used to claim success and you fell for it
