I hate to start yet another whinge about commentary, but *why* are we persisting with a pundit who can't explain anything beyond 'running as hard as they can' and 'tucking the ball under their wing'? It's almost unlistenable at this stage and it presents an outdated, skill-free image of the sport. We can do better surely?

I agree. Absolutely no way both should be commentating together though.

Surely Sky wants to increase viewing figures for all it's sports? They just have to reverse this dumbing down. There should be a minimum IQ for all commentators and summarisers. An Australian accent on commentary is a must as from next season and banish the 'setasix' thickos whatever experience of the game such individuals may have.

Get some music on and just watch the game it's much better! Every now and then I try to listen to the commentary, then after about 1 min it's off agian.

I'd suggest Sky bring across Warren Smith as a commentator from Fox Australia.

The thing is that Terry isn't funny. At least Barrie is a 'character' and brings occasional humour even though he's a pretty awful pundit. Terry is a boring, monotone robot and it goes without saying that he doesn't offer anything insightful. He doesn't even seem to get excited about the matches which, for all the criticism of Stevo over the years, you could never accuse him of lacking passion for the product. Terry literally brings nothing apart from a dull, repetitive, droning voice that goes on and on and on throughout matches.

If you had never watched rugby league on sky and tuned it, you would think it was a rugby league version of what sky used to do with football games. Get a couple of fans in the studio to commentate on the game. Fans who had never had a shred of media training and came across as bafoons.

It is hard to be harsh on Terry and Baz , great players that they were but still it has to be said, their must be better out there......

Barrie and Terry should never have been anything more than an occasional 5 minute piece pre-game or on Boots n All.

I agree Barrie is better than Terry but still he isn't particularly good. Terry is just awful and should never have got a job as a commentator or pundit. As others have said he offers no insight and, along with the others, makes the whole thing sound like a group of mates watching the game in a pub.

There's far too many of them. Reduce it down to Eddie and 1 other during the game. That may well be a role that Barrie or Phil Clarke could do ok, the 2nd commentator with Eddie taking the lead and simply doing the commentating rather than delving into analysis, which he's shocking at, however he's excellent when he sticks to the commentating.

Then have Brian Carney, Jon Wells and a guest in the studio. I'd like to see them get more involved with the analysis at half time rather than it just be Jon Wells. That's not a criticism of Wells, just I think the guests are often under-used.

The whole thing needs to be a lot more professional and much less like a group of mates messing around.

Listen to the NRL games, and the likes of Fittler, Lewis, and especially, Sterling, illuminate and explain the game in a grown-up fashion. Compare with those fools on Sky and they are a bunch of over-grown schoolboys in comparison.

If you do some research, you will know there is no need for anyone to contact the police, as that has all ready occurred. I can only assume at this point that the referee involved has brought the action. Then again, I have noticed from your posts that you don't really research much before posting inaccurate and some time, just plain incorrect stuff on here.
