| At the moment it's more reasons to try and not give a try. Almost seems like they're trying to overturn tries with this obstruction rule sometimes.

| This second one looks like it will be given and for me it was more of obstruction than the first...

| i agree. I didnt think either were obstruction but if you had showed me both of them and said one was obstruction i would have said the 2nd.
on the back of the Ryan Bailey inability to disappear when metres away from the runner, and the other 1.5million given yesterday, and the 3 or so already today the current interpretation is showing how bad it is.

| Said for a long time Thaler the best ref around, last night and his video ref impression today blow that theory.
The obstructions were bad enough, but to come up with a charge down for that Bowen knock on was bordering on insane. You are sin binned in union for that.

| The charge down decision was appalling. I really don't understand how you can have a job as a referee when you mess something up that easy.

| I've already seen some calls about the ref Silverwood having a shocker. He isn't actually doing too bad, it's his video ref and touch judge (who I think gave the nod for Clare knocking on the high ball early on that wasn't touched by him) that have let him down massively here.
Silverwood did make some calls early on for obstruction that clearly were obstruction, but because they didn't result in a try it wasn't open to the VR to judge those and he got to the right conclusion on his own.
Unfortunately decisions are made by letters of the law instead of ref's using common sense and basic game knowledge. I'm ok with the Bowen shoulder charge, letter of law, wrong. Reality it was ok for me.

| The shaven ape's really poor attempts at mind games backfires most amusingly.
Well done Cas - far better team on the day, and playing a much more watchable style of rugby.

The shaven ape obviously likes self-parody, him having a whinge about officials letting the opposition control the ruck speed.

Cas deserved winners no doubt. If I were a Wigan fan though I'd be tearing my hair out about that sloppy laying-on penalty that Jack Hughes gave away at 4-6. Cas had to endure a tough 10-15 prior to that and he let them off big time.
Thought at 4-6 Wigan would snatch it and that Cas whilst impressive in so many departments had too many disappointing kicks that allowed Wigan to start sets higher up the pitch than they should've done and that would be their undoing. For Wigan, they looked uncharacteristically unorganised and lacking structure in attack near the Cas line......that BTW is not to say that Cas weren't great in defence, just Wigan can look at the tape on Monday and be disappointed in some of the things they did/didn't do with ball in hand.
Thought the main reason why Wigan would win pre-game (apart from obvious home field advantage) is something I questioned when Leeds played Cas a few weeks back.....their defence. They've put up some good showings against the top teams this year but conceded too many points in those games (even when they beat Wigan at home they shipped 30 themselves). But today they blew that out of the water, probably even the most hardcore of Cas didn't think they'd only concede 4 points today.

You'd expect nothing less from him and Wigan did their fare share of slowing things down today.
Hopefully an all Yorks semi-final line up now[size=150 if[/size Bradford can pull off a shock tomorrow.

I'm delighted they lost.

| Castleford played far better rugby - the scoreline flattered us.
No excuses - win some, lose some. Good luck to Cas, hope they or Widnes go on and win it.

Agree.Definitely a knock on, but the video ref did have the seed planted when Silverwood suggested a charge down.

Except he didn't. What he said was "they lied on better in the contact" and "they controlled the ruck speed very very well which they always do and the officials allowed them to do that". He was actually paying you a compliment on controlling the contact, the tackle and the ruck better than Wigan did and doing it in such a way the officials were happy with it.
He also said, "they completed their sets better, they ended their sets better, they had a bit more vigour ... they were the better team, we were beaten by the better team no doubt about that, they deserve to be in the semi finals and we don't."
He's right. Cas offered more and defended like Wigan did against Leeds a few weeks ago. Wigan ran out of ideas in attack and offered very little. Cas were superb and deserved it.
Got to say though, from the reaction you'd think Cas won the cup today. How many times do you see the entire squad and coaching staff posing for a picture under the sticks!

Erm, Cas do it most weeks. It's called showing family spirit with the fans and creating moments.
People really need to get over this and stop crying about it.
I mean, the Wigan account has tweeted a pic of the U19s stood on a balcony after beating London. Tsk, small club mentality....

Why shouldn't they be jubilant. They've just won a match that no one (except themselves) probably expected them to win. The best team won and rightly celebrated.
