I saw a bloke buy a vegetarian hot dog from one of the fine food outlets outside the stadium. Just like that, out in the open and everything. It's as if he didn't care. Clear sign of Southern-ness.

Easy to pick the southerners, really.

If they are converted southern rugby union fans, they are likely to speak English with accents like those of David Cameron and Boris Johnson, and wear a nice jacket, pressed shirt, slacks and shoes. If they are converted southern soccer fans they are likely to speak English with the accents of Albert and Harold Steptoe, and cough up a lot of phlegm which they then spit on the ground while swearing loudly.

I'm from Essex and I was there in my Skolars shirt, although my mother does come from the north so I don't know if I count. I've also been told that I have a very posh accent but I am certainly not a union fan.
