Time for the annual Wembley attendance thread. I don't think I have ever seen that many patches of red seats on the bottom tier. The top tier is an even worse story. Wonder what attendance the RFL are going to make up this time?

The CC needs to be scrapped and replaced by another Magic Weekend instead.

It's not that empty. Same old problem of club Wembley seats and with the WC on this year maybe some people have moved their annual trip to Wembley to later in the year. Rather than being a neutral they can go and watch a match as an England supporter.

I think Wembley looks bad when that middle tier is empty and it always will be for RL but even today there were empty seats in the bottom and top aswell

I think there is a range of Club Wembley seats ranging from bronze to platinum. So they are not all the same. I don't think all seats are off the market for every game. That will be just the platinum ones. The rest have some kind of first refusal and key footy games.

The attendance wasn't that bad, Jesus. The on-field product was far worse.

It did not empty as fast as it did in 2011....

The attendance was ok, roughly the same as every final for the last 25 years. Don't know what people are complaining about...

78k isn't that bad.

don't think it was a bad attendance it just looks bad the way Wembley is set out now with club Wembley seating put 65,000 in old Trafford and it can look nearly full

Not a lot of point really when there are plenty of empty seats in areas that are already available, though I agree with others that 78k is no shabby amount.

78k is an absolute fraud. There were nowhere near that many there. Club Wembley is a great excuse for the apologists on this forum who would prefer to make excuses rather than face the fact that our game is in decline at a quicker rate than ever. Who's idea was it to move the final to August? An even worse decision than franchising!

% decrease = -21.71%

The irony of people sat at home watching on the TV and complaining about the attendance.

You missed the important point; Why am I at home?. I went to every CC final from 1986 (8 month old) to 2006. This year I didn't even realise the final was on until last week. I haven't been for 10 years now because my enthusiasm for rugby league is non-existent due to the crap way our sport is run. My mum and dad used to run a coach trip to Wembley every year. We used to have a waiting list to get on the trip. This year only two people went, but lets ignore all of this and bury our heads in the sand!

The first step to fixing a problem is admitting that you have one.

The finals of 1983, 1984 and 1986 were 15,000 to 20,000 below capacity. The only reason this wasn't clear was because large parts of the stadium was standing.

If Wembley had been shiny red seats in 1986 - then we would have had the same moaners writing letters to the papers with the usual grim reaper stuff. Club Wembley is out of the RFL's hands. There were some empty seats. It was fine - move on.INOUT
