| Wouldn't be a Stadium development thread without actual stadium development pictures.
[uHull Kingston Rovers[/u
This is what the stand will look like.
[uWhere are we with the build.[/u
The actual stand where the seat will be.
West wing of the stand. As you can see this picture was taken before the steel for the stand started been erected.

Looks big enough to me.
Think this was the 1st picture that people saw of the stand IIRC.

Not seen the fixture list so not when we play Wire who are always well supported. Be awesome if it was after June and they get to experience the new stand. Should keep even more noise from us hullites in making it even noiser.

| Work on Headingley's new pitch this afternoon. The lodgers have been kicked out for a further couple of games now so that the stadium owners will get the right to use it first, on Boxing Day.

| When's the roof going on the away end at Headingley?
With regards to fixtuers, if we play FC and KR one week after the other that's the worst idea I've ever heard from Mr Fixture Computer.

| How is Headingley a disgrace? Combines the beautiful new stand with the traditional old terracing and old-style two-tiered seating stand. It's wonderful.

I agree it is ' state of the art ' , 15% 2000,s state of the art, 85% 1920,s state of the art , it is a dump similar to Wheldon Road and Belle View, only bigger

Headingley, unlike the two grounds named, meets the criteria of Framing the Future to the letter, as well as comfortably exceeding the less onerous Super League licencing criteria.
Of course, Headingley is not a brand new stadium and that has its limitations. Leeds could have sold the land for redevelopment and have had a shiny new flat pack place somewhere built for them out of the proceeds or in partnership with a developer (Leeds city council would not have built it - they are less benevolent than other local authorities it seems). But the fans wanted to stay at Rugby League's most historically important ground. So the club has to self finance redevelopment which is a much more onerous task and moves at a slower pace. As it stands however Headingley remains perfectly fit for purpose and no one who knows what they are talking about would ever really seriously suggest otherwise.

"Most historically important ground" ?
This accolade has to go to Odsal,so iconic and important, it was "bought" by the RFL, no other groung has the same status
On a serious note, headingley is much improved but, does need an upgrade at the scoreboard end.

| A much smaller scale, but work has started this week on the £500k upgrade of Derwent Park to get it into shape for the RLWC games. The funding is all in place and will improve the cosmetics of the stadium massively.

So basically it has one nice shiny new stand, so it's OK?
It's got obstructions in two of the stands. And the third stand is one of the worst stand in Super League. Shallow steps. No roof. Can barely see the pitch, let alone the screen or scoreboard from certain parts.
The only reason they haven't moved is because Headingley is a great area, and lets be fair, where else is there?!

For starters, the corporate facilities trump any others in Super League - even at the brand new flat-pack football stadiums / council houses. Leeds has invested more than any other club in facilities but, understandably, they've prioritised that investment into areas that generate the most revenue - corporate facilities, retaining Test cricket, bars, conferencing, hotels and educational facilities. The revenue from these will eventually finance the new South Stand and, when YCCC are willing to co-operate, a new North Stand.
What the "roof on the away end" campaigns overlook is that the club has looked into this but, amongst other things, they found that plenty of supporters actually enjoy an open terrace on warm days & evenings. A surprising amount of Leeds season ticket holders have tickets for the Western Terrace for this very reason. Are you suggesting that those core customers should have that choice taken away from them?
Ultimately, Leeds provides plenty of choices to suit whatever tastes people have. Anyone, regardless of their club allegiance, is free to buy a ticket in any area of the ground that they choose.

So money has been spent as much on cricket and ' nothing to do with RL ' than the actual watching the matches, so not actually the stadium
Choices yes, but still substandard for the sports supposedly premier club, paint it anyway you want, its still an early 20th century dump, with 2/3 rds of a decent stand at one end
