The problem being that Julie Stott knows nothing about the refereeing system and just wrote an article to get people criticizing another ref...

On a more serious note, and despite the fact that I wouldn't normally trust a word I read in the gutterpress, I do wonder just exactly what Cummings role is.

If it's primarily to maintain consistency then he's making a pretty bad fist of it.

It would appear we're talking about both Michael Maguire and Danny McGuire. The media appear to think the spellings are interchangeable.

I just don't know the difference between Brian McClennan and Brian McDermott!

Barrie McDermott is the new Leeds coach and Brian McDermott is a football manager at Reading.
The Leeds captain, Kevin Seinfeld is better known for his eponymous role in a 1990's American sitcom.

The new Wigan coach, Shane Warne is widely regarded as one of the best spin-bowlers of his generation. Their captain is also called Shane.

Hope this clears up any confusion.

Is his job solely to work with the referees in the professional game though, or does he also have responsibility for development of officials at all levels?

If it's the latter, does he have the time to devote to fire-fighting with SL coaches, most of whom are merely whining after defeats?

Maybe if the coaches stopped coaching their players to continually ' Cheat ' there might not be a problem
