Just been reading that their new ground doesn't have undersoil heating. That can't be right, can it?

Why not? The systems are expensive and would only be used for probably one month of the year, possibly as little as once or twice a year.
The likes of the KC, DW etc only have it because they are primarily used by football teams and the Premier Leagure requires it. I don't think the Halliwell Jones Stadium has it. I think Leigh do, but again, that's because it's not specifically a rugby stadium and they were possibly hoping Sale would move in.

| I'm pretty sure it is only the grounds that are being used for football which currently have undersoil heating. Certain they don't at the Halliwell Jones.

| I thought all newly-built stadia would have it. It's not out of the question that we could get frozen pitches as late as March or as early as October.

But that would still only cover about 4 or 5 games so there isn't much point. October through to February there isn't any competitive games, other options such as the tent and heaters saints put up for this game are much more financially viable when it isn't regularly used during winter months.

No, the LSV is and was primarily a RL stadium, the partner club was Leigh RMI/Genisis , if both clubs had remained at the LSV they would have used up 90 % of the stadiums allowed allocation of matches, so Sale were never in the equation
Lets hope we dont have an early winter next year, or some RL WC games might have to be moved

Credit to Salford they are keeping the ball alive and have been very clinical unlucky Gibson being held up. Just need some more field position this second half as Saints have gifted you most of it so far which i doubt will happen second half.

| That was a good half of footy.
Jowett and Sidlow are taking Salford forward brilliantly and Smith is in control of everything. Gibbo and Williams look a threat on the right edge almost every time the ball goes that way and I hope Broughton gets the ball in space. He's quick as!
I hope the is the norm for the standard of footy across the board this year because the teams are solid in the middle and having to work hard for the tries. I noticed last year how the outside defence was becoming tougher to break down and in the 4 and a half games I have seen so far this season it looks to have got better.

Would you not rather just be pleased with the fact your team is playing well rather than having to have other fans tell you they are? Salford's backline looks very handy and dangerous. Williams has put some great hits in and you're unlucky not to be 2 scores ahead. You'll cause allot of upsets if they can carry on the way they are at the moment, however I predict you'll fizzle out with around 15 to go.

| Matty Smith is looking like a top player. Is he on loan from St Helens or have Salford actually bought him?

| Can see the Sean Long influence a mile off here. The lines and movement Salford are running are classic St Helens from a couple of years ago - the same moves Wigan perfected with such effect in 2010. Hats off, he's clearly done a great job with their attack.
Saints are starting to get on top here. If that dipstick Wild could stop giving away stupid penalties (is that 5, or 6?) they'd probably still be behind but even so their quality is starting to tell.
Good game.
