Just heard on Talksport about a new RL club being formed in Northampton. Were about to talk about it but i was leaving the car and put the radio on in the house and they haven't mentioned it yet, dont know if i have missed it.

Do you think they will be a success? They have a good RU following. Not sure the public will take to it. I hope they do!

Just talking about it now, Championship 1 and hope for SL within a couple of years!

They have linked with Wakefield and are going to start out in 2013 using the existing football clubs ground and staff to keep costs down.

Only took Talksport 24 hours to discuss that story of course it had football in it so thats why it got a discussion.

Good to see they are coming in at the bottom and not fast tracked.

Whats the point in expanding the game when its not even filling its potential in the M62 corridor.

It's a good move and it sounds like they are being realistic with their approach.

If they could get the Northampton produced local players now at professional clubs back they could have a very competitive side as well.

But it's you define success at that level. I would say success is not going out of business, with the quality of the games and opposition down there it will be impossible to generate decent gates.

I don't know if they did or not, but I've seen 3 different interviews and articles on pretty much every news website that carries RL stories, and the only mention of Super League in any of those was through their alleged link up with Wakefield.

Either way though, I think it would be pretty obvious that any club new or old would aspire to be in the highest divison, what's so sinister about that?

I agree with this but at the same time if an area has a decent enough amateur setup with which the pro club can work with it does make sense to have really close look at these clubs.

I don't think northampton could afford to take back these players and by association it would be wrong to take the players back as it would only stunt there devolopement.

When ever they come out with a good news story they have to then go and f... it up by drifting off into VT land.

They never said they wanted to be in SL within a couple of years. The interview with the chairman is on the BBC website. They'd like to be in SL one day, but it's long term.

Keeping the game within the M62 corridor will not get us any exposure as we are viewed as a Northern 'regional' sport. Therefore we won't get any money, which means the sport won't get any bigger - in fact it will probably contract, and eventually die.

Basically, the mountain won't come to Mohammed. If the game is to be taken seriously, it needs to be plonked in front of the very eyes of the lazy journos and sponsors that can take our game forward. They won't come and find us, so we need to find them.

As I said , reading ' come on you Wolves ' post sounded like they had mentioned SL in. Couple of years , even the most ardent ' Expansion at all cost ' exponent should be horrified to hear something like that after recent events

The same old people will death ride them the minute SL is mentioned, just as they did Crusaders, and as they will any other new club that dares to aim above minor club status.
