A lot of debate this time of year as ever about franchises and which team will be shafted to allow another similarly useless organisation into the setup. Would it not be a better idea to kick all the useless clubs out until they are ready? The only good enough teams next year will be:

Wigan
Wire
Leeds
Hull
Saints
Catalans
Huddersfield
Bradford

8 is plenty, we can add more when there is a cause to. Salford, Quins, Crusaders, Wakefield, Cas, Widnes and Hull KR are not really 'Super' enough.

14 games a season plus Challenge Cup and 3 x International Origin and play offs is fine. The teams would be far, far stronger. IMO crowds would rocket as every game would be close and there would be fewer games. Limiting supply would focus demand IMO. The NFL teams play 16 games a season for example.

It would help with player fitness and conditioning. It's a win-win for me. Sky deal could be spread more thickly and maybe the cap could rise slightly. International Origin could be given it's own weekends and big build ups and represent a genuine step up for the elite players, rather than a laugh at an exhibition with their mates as it bordered on this year.

Maybe 8 teams is a bit too far, but reducing it is the way to go IMO. The current league has 5 or 6 perennial strugglers, who struggle in every aspect of the game from financial, to attendances to youth development. The playing talent is spread too thinly and the competition hasn't developed like they planned when SL was introduced. Changing Widnes for Wakefield or Salford won't do a thing IMO.

Sounds good to me , in fact many of us have suggested exactly this many , many times before , so come on all you fans , tell us why your club should or should not be included in this Super Duper League ?

I'm serious. With this plan you get a fabulous competition where every side is very strong. From season to season there would be NRL swings in the table and the playing standards, crowds and media profile of the sport would rocket. Our International Origin concept could mimick the NRL's and provide another 3 showpiece events for the sport. The TV deal money would go further, there would be such rabid interest in the game.

Or, we can skip along like a drunk on his way home like we are doing now. With our 2, 3 and 4 thousand crowds every weekend and our 50 or so pedgree players spread out so thinly amongst the mongrels that it lowers the standards to an all time low. People just need to forget club affiliations. If your club isn't on the list it's because not enough people care anyway.

Any fan wishing to watch more RL could always go and watch the ' expanded ' Championship , lets face it most fans put the game before their club after all dont they ?

Spot on , if you're not ' Super Duper ' you dont get in , obviously having a nice shiney BRAND NEW stadium is a pre requisit to being ' Super Duper '

How the hell can you put Bradford in it and leave out Cas? They've been brilliant this year

I think being Super should be a prerequisite to being in the elite competition. Is there really a point to clubs like Quins, Crusaders, Wakefield, Salford etc? No ambition, no money, no support, no future.

Cas with a new ground would be certainties, but you can't have Super League in a ground where you need a tetanus on the way out...

I'm not sure the fans want a close competitive league.....not for the "big" clubs anyway. As soon as those clubs start losing, the fanbase become massively negative, and the attendances drop off.
Only this weekend, the Champs of 2007, 2008, 2009 had a narrow win over the bottom team. Are the fans raving about a close and competitive game?

What's needed are "lower" clubs to stand under the top clubs, to facilitate "top of the table" clashes. But without a "bottom of the table" there is no top of the table.

Bradford's not much better.

I agree it's a good concept and would make every game more challenging.

It would also strengthen the Championships too which is something we definitely need.

If you are going to spread the sky money between fewer clubs then Quins are a must in this league.
it would be so much easier for them to be competitive with more money to spend on players and marketing.
Quins for huddersfield and i think your about right in the makup of your league.

Small town in Wakefield , not up to the standard

Hull KR with their new stand will be good enough.

Widnes have always been good enough.

Salford could be good enough with the new stadium and so would Castleford.

I do agree though we only have 8 clubs who are up to standard.

If you research my posting history on here, you will find I've said many times that if the new ground failed to materialise Saints should be kicked out of SL.

Of course they want a close competitive league , as long as their club is just a bit more competitive than the rest , unfortunatly they haven't figured out how to not have somebody be at the bottom of SL yet

I want those clubs to raise their standards enough to be 'super'.

I am also aware that we need Salford in because all of the BBC is moving to Salford.

Salford offer nothing to the league at all, no fans and can't compete in the league.
