Can't see anything other than the 1966 World Cup Final or Band Aid winning this, but Wigan's 1994 Challenge Cup final versus Leeds (yes, THAT Offiah try  ) has been shortlisted. Remember it well and was certainly a great game and an awesome day...but by its inclusion it's being called the greatest RL event at Wembley? Not sure about that.
But then the list also includes Take That, England vs Croatia, Charlton vs Sunderland and various FA Cup moments...

The '85 final was undoubtedly a classic, and for pure sporting theatre the '96 final is hard to touch.
Other than the Offiah try, the Wigan Leeds final was pretty unremarkable IMO.

You know somehow the quality of that match made our not being there easier to swallow. Despite being gutted that our record run had ended I finished watching that game thinking that I'd just witnessed one of the greatest finals ever. |

My thoughts exactly. I don't think the 1994 final even ranks among the best ever challenge cup finals, let alone the best ever events at Wembley. Now the 1996 final was a great game! |
