SL fans , would you be happy for your club to drop out of SL fir the good of the game ?

It's a little ambiguous yes. As you, I or my mate Jeff might have different views on what the good of the game is.

if it left the game with more money, more visibility, more fans, and more stability or had the potential to do so, then yes.

No. The way the SL franchise system is run means that as time goes by it will be increasingly difficult if not impossible for those outside the top flight to meet the criteria to get (back) in. There will be an ever widening financial gap between SL & the rest & I am genuinely worried for Wakey- if as most expect they get the push this year and Cas, Salford & Saints get new stadiums how are Wakey going to get back in in 3 years? (assuming of course the RFL provides the option to expand the league in 3 years- we actually have no idea what their plans are).
So as things stand I reckon if you're picked for the next round of franchises barring financial meltdown you're set up indefinitely whilst if you're out with no Sky money & inevitably smaller crowds you'll never get back in.

Yes. But whether I agree that us being out of the SL is for the good of the game is an entirely different question!

If we were still playing at the Boulevard, lurking around the bottom spots, getting Sharks-like crowds, then yes we'd deserve to be dropped.

Well, it seems that what you are trying to do is lend weight to your rather aggressive assertions on the other thread that anyone who voted "game" was a liar by creating this fantasy scenario. It's like asking "Do you put the welfare of your child before the welfare of your wife?" Then when the reply is "yes", you ask "Would you shoot your wife in the head to prevent your child getting stung by a bee." Anyone who wouldn't shoot their wife obviously doesn't put the welfare of their child before the welfare of their wife, right Starbug?

A bit of a fantasy scenario there EGW , no I'm not adding weight to anything other than the original question is pointless because every bodies situation is different , and unless you can replicate those situations nobody can answer the question honestly

I answered honestly and I'm not sure why you keep insisting people have answered otherwise.

In a general, roundabout way, I'm happy for things to be put in place by the RFL that may hinder my club specifically but benefit RL as a whole, the SC being an example. That doesn't mean I think it's perfect or beyond criticism but I do think it's evened up the competition and whilst that might mean we'll never again dominate like we did in the late 80s to early 90s it seems to have made SL a better competition, so I'm happy with that in a utilitarian sort of way. Similarly, I would hate to see any club go to the wall, no matter how much we might be sworn enemies on the pitch, and I don't like seeing good players leave the RFL even when it's our nemesis they are leaving.

I love the sport and i watch the national team when i can. But Its Widnes that made me fall in love with the game and its the club that make me spend many English pounds watching them.

If they died so would my interest in the game. Without Widnes i would just be someone who watched the challenge cup final and maybe the odd SL match if nothing better was on.

Your club did everything they could ( some would say they cheated ) to retain their SL status , how much further would you have been happy for them to go , how much further would Mo have gone ?

Are you asking me what my opinion is or simply stating what you think our club did and inferring my opinion from that? Either way this brick wall is beginning to give me a head ache. I don't have to prove my honesty to you mate, if you can't take what I'm saying at face value then so be it. I love the game first and foremost; clearly you'll find that unbelievable if you judge me by your own standards.

He could answer yes, Because the SL is a better supported competition with them in it. So for the good of the game they cheated.

Either way I wouldn't be happy about it if it turned out to be true, both in terms of it being against the spirit of the game and a potential embarrassment for our club. However, I can only presume from your assertion that everybody who said "game" was lying that you yourself would happily have your team cheat their way to success. Shame on you, Starbug.

Not an answer to a simple question , I don't understand the ' alleged ' bit , you brought players in , payed them the year after , had a player come out of retirement for free , moved players out on loan to keep your SC down , and stayed up
