| We all know Australia has the worlds best beaches, culture, food, weather, cars, sheilas blah blah blah and you poms seem to love visiting the best little nation in the world. And who could blame you....Oz is a fantastic place. When I was home last week I went into the city and I swear there were more poms wandering around complaining about the weather than there are in London.
Last year quite a few of you made the long haul for the World cup.
Whose planning on going next year for the 2010 4 Nations???
And what airline would you choose???

Not with all those rugby league players roaming round. I'd be far to worried about being gang raped, glassed, bottled or shot at.

| I'm definitely going. Taking the parents as well.
Glad two of the England prelim games will be in New Zealand. Pity it means that a visit to Sydney might not be on the agenda.
Also going to stay out for the first Ashes test in Brisbane as well

| No. No desire to visit Australia any more than I desire to visit Strangeways. Given that both served the same purpose, it's not really surprising.
On a serious note, why would I want to visit any country where the natives make it clear we're not welcome?
Plus, it's a long way away, and all the games will be on the telly.

You would think he would go to the games, but then you have to remember, Barry doesn't actually attend any games.

And if I like it that much, I might just commit crime so I can stay for longer.

| I might go, don't know yet.
Have the fixtures been announced? A poster has said the prelim games are in NZ. Can you let me know the games and dates please.
In 2006 for the Tri Nations we used Emirates airlines from Manc via Dubai.
They flew Boeing 777 to Dubai which was ok. Then the same plane to Sydney with a 2 hr stop in Bankok. The 777 is too small for the Dubai - Sydney run IMO.
If there is a next time I'd probably go with a Mid East Airline again as they are price competitive and aviod Heathrow. Possibly look at Mid east- Sydney on a A345/346 or the A388. Certainly not the 777.

I fly London/Sydney pretty frequently and by FAR the best route is via Singapore.
Direct.....and you are well over half way when you arrive at Singapore
Bangkok is my second choice ....far better since they opened Suvarnabhumi Airport ....the old one was woeful
Hong Kong is my third choice....fantastic airport but a good 14 hour haul from London and then about 9 or 10 on to Sydney

| Went last year for the WC and it was really good apart from those bloody flights. Wont be going next year as Money is too tight but will definitely go following England down under again at some point.

A lot longer, as that would make you a citizen.
I might go, depends if the exchange rate improves.
Australia has virtually no culture and certainly doesn't have the best "Sheilas", food or anything else listed above, although it does have some excellent beaches - especially in remote areas.

| Here's an idea for you all.
My mate from college a couple of years back went on holiday to aus, met a bird then decided he liked it in Perth.
What did he do? got married in no time and they couldnt kick him out. Nice long term VISA; Back of the Net!
Them aussie chicks are overweight and desperate, use it to your advantage.
True Story

| I'll be heading over East to catch some games. Wish they'd get the venues finalised so i can start planning!
If you want to see some more of the country can recommend Manchester - Dubai - Perth on Emirates. Few days in WA (some amazing natural scenery) to get over the jet lag then you can get a flight over East for around 100quid. ps you might pick up a fat (or fit if your really lucky!) chick as well and get to stay forever!

Just got back from Thailand and Thai Air has slipped a lot.
Fly via Singapore if you can.

You are obviously joking along with Dico below.
All of the English "ladies" look like bleached blonde pasty faced scrags that have a drug habit and swear like troopers.
The English word Slappers seems to sum up most that I have seen.
How many English girls would look good on the beach?
They would call green peace and roll them back into the Surf.

The only good thing about australia is some of the landscape and the weather (in their winter, which is slightly better than our summer).
Some of the landscape is breathtaking.
Noe of this has much to do with the people though (although they were generally very very friendly to be honest).
The place has not culture or history really, apart from the aboriginals.
We may be a dull wet island but we have a heritage to be proud of.
