| Watching the game yesterday, I couldn't help but think back to a game (circa 2003/4) I watched when England under 17 Academy played the Australian Institute of Sport
The two dominant players on the pitch for England were James Graham and Karl Pryce - the latter who demolished the Aussies, was men against boys
While Graham has gone on to be a respected international prop, Pryce, for various reasons, has gone into obscurity
Karl Pryce is as gig if not bigger than Inglis and not too far off in pace... I wish he had lived up to his promise and England had the most dominant outside back in the world!

he may have been as big as inglis bit no way in a million years would he have been as good and skillful as inglis. He looked a decent prospect at best, no more.

| I would wager that Ingils is one of the fastest threequarters in the game. Karl Pryce I would not.

| To be honest, and i've not seen Pryce in years, it seems to me the typical example of freakishly big kid, not necessarily a skillfull rugby player, not particularly athletic and if he werent a rugby player would be very unfit and well overweight.

| Karl Pryce was not just a big lump, he had talent and a good hand off. He was badly advised to go into Union and as a result wasted his time. I remember watching him and thinking we had unearthed a real talent.....don't let what happened in the meantime obscure the fact he was a good talent.

| Around the time of Pryce's exploits for the GB Academy, I remember quizzing Steve Mcnamara about just how good he could be.
His reply was, "Mate, it all depends on his attitude. There will be no in between with Karl - he will either develop into one of the world's best or he will slip into oblivion."
Sad!

Aye, if Tuigamala was British, we'd have soon knocked that speed out of him and put him at blind side, where he belonged

But yet people are always willing to complain when teams go out and bring in Aussie coaches!

True, but the BEST coaches, whom we seem NOT to learn from and IMPROVE upon are still in Australia
We just get the residue.

| At Wigan they tell us he is one of the most skillful players there are.
Apparently he is also the 2nd fastest, behind Roberts I'd imagine.
So what happens between training and playing is what the new coaching team have to develop.
All at Wigan appear to still believe he is a real talent, developing it is without doubt the problem.

That's the point of the post. I think you need to look up the word potential in the dictionary... if he had reached his potential he would have been simply superb

Was it London that he destroyed when he was 17/18?

i don't think he ever had the potential, he was just bigger than everyone at kids level. he's not an athlete and never will be, he has no coordination and no aggression

He is still bigger that any other back in World Rugby though... hence the frustration
I agree 100% with the agression point and that is the whole problem with him

| I remember he played at Headingley for Bulls and was class. Scored a hat trick i believe, and was the best back on display. I think we still lost but a lot of bulls fans after that thought he might actually realise his obvious potential.
I think it's been noted that he's always been seen as a bit of a bottler despite his size.

One epic difference between James & Karl...
Karl spent time playing Union. Ruined him it did.
