Yes but there has been no news since April, surely with the season next year there should be some more news by now?

Things like this make me wonder whether we should have considered changing the code's name in the past. Only a few of those Americans seem to acknowledge that it's RL being played, and I'm worried that they may confuse it with Union or even 'Australian Rules' as one person said. Obviously it's never going to happen, I just wish we had a more easily distinguishable and marketable name so it is clearer that RL is a sport in its own right rather than a 'variant on traditional Rugby'.

Pah, American Football to me looks like Rugby League in some ways, just some, but they wear helmets and body armour!!!!!

Get some of their pro's to do it without the protection and I'll admire em lol.

They need the padding though if you see some of the tackles that happen even with all the padding a lot of serious injuries occur, the majority of them are leg injuries (where they dont have so much padding) which suggests that the padding is working and shows why it is needed in the first place

It`s much more accurate to say that rugby league, rugby Union, American football and soccer are ALL variants of `football` which was played in the 19th century under a variety of rules which varied from area to area.

The way they tackle and the way they throw their bodies into a tackle is able to happen BECAUSE of the padding.

Take the padding away and they would have to change how they tackle.


Similarly, put a Rugby League team in all that gear and Rugby League would change. The way players run, the way they tackle....it would be dictated by all that gear they were carrying.


I think some people think the NFL is a competition played by super humans, but its not. They are specialized to a sport, they still hurt, they still bleed.

im sure if the coverage is extended to the future the NRL can build a small dedicated fanbase. remember RL is alien to most americans so as they continue watching they will catch on to its name an rules, and hey what is the internet for? if they can find their way to twitter (whatever it is) then they can find their way to wikipedia or nrl.com or rfl.co.uk!

I have had this discussion at work with many yanks, the tackling technique in NFL simply doesn't exist and that's why there are so many injuries.

Jumping in head first in to tackles is a sure fire way of smashing up your body!!!
