A lot of players aren't too fussed with it."'"
Hard not to agree with that tbh

I disagree. I can't wait to go up there.
Graham comparing the local turnout in Cardiff is a little disingenuous when you consider that's why the RFL moved it and if reports are to be believed, the SRU have done a lot better in sales to the Scottish.
Another point is that a large group of us are travelling up, many of whom have never watched RL before - I'm sure they'll enjoy it and may come back for more. These weekends offer a tremendous opportunity to get new fans involved in the game and if the nay-saying northerners stay away on principle then great - the new fans will enjoy the weekend all the more for not having someone slating it next to them.
Oh and if Graham wants (at least) 2 fixtures dropping I'm sure him and his mates wouldn't mind taking a pay cut. . . . .

| "James Graham on a bit of a downer, after losing a game they should never have" shock.
I'm sure his club, fans and team mates will be delighted with him, knowing he can't be d against Wigan this weekend.

| I enjoy the concept of the weekend but I think it would be far better to have it on the first weekend, start the season with a bang. There has been no real fanfare to mark the start of the season in the last few years, in fact it's been terrible with round 4 games before round one games, nonsense. I'm not sure what the ticket sales are for the weekend this year but more fans would be willing to make the trip after being starved of rugby for a few months IMO.

What a great idea.
It 'book ends' the season in terms of "Great RL Weekends Away" with Magic at the start and the CC at the end. Crowds will turn up for it having had nothing to watch all winter.

| Not a great idea for me. Bank holiday weekend means that people have the opportunity to make a good trip of it plus having it in May means that it should at least be slightly warm. I wouldn't fancy sitting out in February for 3 or 4 matches.

No he doesn't. Cumbria will never get it together enough to put out a Superleague team for a start.

Whitehaven, Workington and barrow all national league clubs
notable ARL sides playing at decent standards...eg millom, egremont, kells, wath brow
not to mention other sides dotted around....ambleside, windermere etc
a darn site more about cumbrian RL than scottish RL....but i dont see a "cumbrian Magic'' in the pipeline....

This venture should actually generate money for the game, rather than costing money - meaning more is available for development in other areas.

| I personally dont think the Magic weekend will become a major event in the RL calendar tbh. The only reason I feel that is because of its timing. The only problem is that it should be the first weekend of of the season to make it work but thats obviously not going to work in February. The other option is to have it as the last weekend end in the season but having the Cup final, Magic weekend and GF within 2 months would be a bit too much in that time period also

| Quote the authorities should scrap the Easter Monday and Magic Weekend rounds to ease the fixture burden on players.'"
Poor luv.
What exactly is this "burden" - sitting on your chuff on a bus to Edinburgh? You should try getting a proper job.
Tell you what, James, let's scrap the whole comp, and you can just sit on your fat lazy arrse drawing your pay cheque for doing fsck all. How about that?
Or can you see the flaw?
If you aren't too fussed about playing that game - don't! Make yourself "unavailable" or pretend you've injured your little finger or something. If you just want to play local park rugby, there's plenty of it available.
We can take it that Mr Graham would be content to play the odd game at or within 40 miles of home, and let the expansion of the game go hang. We can also take it that he is quite, quite mad as he presumably thinks that Sky will cough up his mammoth wages for running around in shorts, with less games, less events and less national appeal.

And at no point have any of them got their act together and made a decent SL bid.
Oh and just where would a Cumbrian Magic be staged and where would every one stay?
