That will be a sad day for me.
I'm one who much prefers to go to Salford, Kull KR, Castleford than Wigan, Hull, Huddersfield etc.
I know they're not modern or up to the standard required, but they have something more special about them.

they are holding clubs back
the clubs that arent getting their stadiums fixed are getting left behind and hopefully replaced with clubs that do have them
expecting decent seating and other modern conveniences is crucial to growing crowds and corporate support

Are Salford, Hull KR Castleford games you win and Wigan, Hull, Huddersfield games you lose? That probably explains the reasons why you enjoy going to these grounds more.

I agree mate, traditional stadiums are much better places to visit, unfortunatly if cas dont get a new ground we cant stay in sl so we have to move. If you view the plans though i dont think the new ground will be as souless as say the galpharm and will get a good atmosphere going on match days (and it has standing as well as seating thank god, i hate all seaters!). It should also boost our income and attendances meaning we can spend full cap.
And of course the most important advantage of the new stadium is that i move to glasshoughton this week so it will be a 5 minute walk from my house to the stadium!

| The old grounds have more soul, but they are holding the clubs back from a corporate standpoint. Also, as has been proven with Warrington & Hull FC, crowds do increase when clubs have better stadia.

I'm afraid on field success doesnt change how good the stadium is, though you can of course pretend otherwise.
I'm looking forward to playing you at fax this year, should be a good atmosphere.

| It looks great but did throw up one or two surprises!
Initial observations that someone might wish to put to the club or make via supporting comments.
I think the home disabled fans who wish to be in the East Stand are getting are bum deal. They have positioned the two disabled viewing areas right at the stand ends on the try lines. I think having them next to the two vomitories around the 20m lines, to still retain easy access (on the side towards the centre line), is a better location as they get a better view and also are part of the crowd as opposed to being slightly remote from it. On lower attendance fixtures like Catalan or London then they are going to be totally left out on a limb. Conversely away and home disabled supporters get a great deal in the centre of the North and South stands, which is very good. The main West Stand disabled viewing area are towards the ends of the stand as well, but I think layout does probably does dictate this in this stand.
Do you guys have a disabled supporter association and if so can someone pass on my comments please?
I am surprised that they have gone for an all seater 'away' North Stand just in cost terms, but this might have something to do with the concert use format that is being proposed?
I am also surprised that they seem to have done away with hospitality boxes altogether (with the exception of the TV studio on non-televised games), while I do think the banqueting model and VIP seats is a better modern option I thought that maybe 4 to 6 hospitality boxes would have been a good shout?
I will have a more detailed look later but just some quick initial thoughts for now.

| Looks really good, liked the curved stand roofs. Much better designed than Warringtons. Good luck and i look forward to visiting. Is is correct there is a rail station at the side of the new ground?

Is there a massive boozer with a big beer garden inbetween the two? For both sets of fans to enjoy a beer and a bit of banter in the sun with the kids running around chasing a ball before going into the ground.

There will be a bar and a big stretch of grass with lines on it included in the stadium development.

| I must say it looks good, and although I neither live near or support Castleford, the fact that it is so close to the other attractions at Glasshoughton, means I will certainly pay it a visit.
I've got mixed feelings about some of the modern facilities but I can see the need. Strangely, I like Odsal (although it is a dump) and the atmosphere in the South stand at Headingley is second to none (and I'm not a Rhinos supporter). It would be good if modern stadia designers could generate a similar feeling.

Makes you wonder how Leeds have managed all these years to provide corporate facilities in a stadium that is fundamentally unchanged (Carnegie Stand aside) in layout since the 1930s.

Really?
There weren't any corporate facilities on the rugby side of Headingley until the Carnegie Stand was built?
