| Once again we have to question the policing/flauting of the cap
it is well documented that all the top clubs plus London are up to the limit
and you would expect that.
So two examples, How can Wigan sign Smith who will not be cheap
and how can Hull sign McGoldrick Witt and another plus Radford still playing
and still be under the cap
The cap may have stabalized some clubs, brought better stadia, etc. but on the player front
something is very wrong, (and we the fans all know it) RFL?

Wigan were not spending up to the cap at the start of the season and Amos Roberts (who we must remember signed a large contract when he first came) retired.
When you look at the Wigan squad that started last season Gleeson, Deacon, Coley, Joel tomkins, Hoffman, o'carroll And pryce have all left. Hock will be on similar wages to that of Gleeson, flower & dudson will be on much lower wages than Hoffman and o'carroll combined. Gelling and lauaki will be on less than pryce and coley.
That leaves lots left over, even when you think about the contract upgrade Sam got ( rumoured to be the same as Joel's wages). To be honest, Wigan have managed the cap extremely well and it wouldnt surprise me if they still have space left.

Amos Roberts retired mid season
Jamie Ellis & Eamon O'Carroll both released mid-season

| What some clubs are fiddling the salary cap? Shock, horror, surely not!
The most blatant I have seen was in Perpignan where the Catlans club caravan shop was staffed by 6 very attractive Australian ladies. Seemed a somewhat generous staffing to customer ratio seeing as we were the only ones in it. Coincidence? Me thinks not!

I know. It was to show to the Huddersfield fan that started this daft thread that clubs can make mid-season signings.

| Hull started the season 60k under the cap, we've had Ellis, O'Carrol and McKinnon leave since the start and brought in Radford, Russell, Pitts and Watts, so are probably quite close to the cap but I'd be really, really surprised and disappointed if we've gone over it.

So the "Witt" that boomer says you've signed is really an amalgamation of Pitts and Watts?

| i have heard that clubs like wire and wigan give extra money to there big costing players and it has nothing to do with the contracts, just extra money that has been promised.
Dont know how wire are still in the salary cap though with the likes of waterhouse, j.monaghan, m. monaghan and hodgson. However they have got simon moran so i suppose that answers the question.

Yes....I'm sure all those club chairmen, employees and the players themselves are quite willing to risk prison sentances for tax evasion. I'm also sure those "big costing players" were equally willing to commit to a club through a contract that specified a lower salary than they expect to be paid.

| Even if Wigan were close to the cap which i very much suspect there not because of the players that have left/retired recently compared with the ones that have been signed/promoted, the contract for matty smith could have been back weighted so he only gets a small wage for this season and a much bigger one for next season to compensate.
Warrington is a completley different issue though, with the big name players they have I just cant see how they all fit under the cap. But if they have there rent/mortgage paid for them plus a company car and petrol and food allowances etc etc then there wage doesnt need to be as big I suppose!!

All of which counts on the salary cap.
Does anyone actually have any evidence of the kind of corruption necessary for the cap to be avoided in these ways? Does anyone have any evidence or even an idea as to what these big name players are actually on?

It doesn't matter what [iyou [/ican or can't see. The RFL monitor the cap and Wire have never breached it. Stop throwing around unsubstantiated innuendo.
