Anyone agree that he is absolutely awful IMHO. He was shocking as usual at Wembley, his voice pitch is way to high at the end of his sentences.

At every big RL occasion he just really annoys me.

No I don't agree as you are asking. He is a regular around the UK not just Rhinos. He is often heard at Loftus Road with QPR as well. He is clear and precise. IMHO. Anyone (I am not saying you are) who thinks its easy to stand pitch side and speak as he does needs to have a go. I am not sure if its as I get older but I am really beginning to to appreciate news readers PAs etc. The art of talking clearly is a dying art. Any of the youth of today who can master it can in my opinion have the world at their oyster. A media savvy world is increasingly losing its talent pool as our language is being polluted.

I think he is the same one from Leeds. I don't know why you'd think he's absolutely awful, I think he's one of the better announcers, certainly in RL anyway.

I wasn't there so I don't know but a lot of the entertainment surrounding rugby league has become embarrassing.
Like the stupid trumpet sound when the ball is kicked off.
The rfl have used the same company for years and it has gone stale.
I guess with very little money it's not really their fault though

He grates a bit but is pretty good at what he does, his voice is synonymous with the big events these days.

Our bloke at Warrington is decent and did a good job of the Italy warm up, although I have still not forgiven him for announcing in round 26 last year that Hull KR had beaten Wigan at Craven "Cottage".

Chris Melling at London was known as Curtis after the Bradford announcer renamed him!

I'm not that bothered but thought he was naff at Wembley. Every sentence started "And now...!"

With regards to Saturday just gone, every time I have been to Wembley I've thought the sound system has been absolutely awful!

The guy at Warrington was so embarrassing when announcing the Samoa and Fiji teams, obviously didn't know who they were and didn't do any homework on the pronuciations beforehand.

The Warrington bloke is annoying. I think it was him who used to announce Graham Appo like a right nob back in the day. Used to drive me insane!!

Pete Emmet at Halifax IMO is a great pa announcer. really funny and you can understand him which always helps.

Got to agree. Its also the worst stadium I have ever been to for concerts. The sound gets lost.

Most of these announcers usually come from the 'local radio DJ' mould - a species of human that can only ever speak in hyperbole.

Having listened to Radio Aire, we could do a hell of a lot worse.

The PA announcer is very bloody annoying. Problem is that, these days, it's those types that get the job. Wacky funsters that all the family can enjoy. Apparently.

Apparently he lives in Warrington area and is a professional announcer. He has never done Wire games but is the regular at LeedsRL and QPR. As a professional announcer he does other large events as well. I think we are lucky to have him doing our big games, he's very clear and,so I'm told by my wife, grammatically very correct. (Hope see doesn't see my post)
