| If the NRL expands in the next 3 or so years and these new club(s) bring back a whole heap of players from the ESL, what effect will that have in the Super league?
Do the clubs have the youngsters coming through, or will they have to pay higher wages than what they do now?
What's the impact likely to be in Europe?

| It shouldnt be a problem, i've heard loads of quality players are being produced in Wales and London, in a couple of years SL is going to be chock-a-block with players from expansion areas

English clubs do produce their own talent you know, would probably help us in the long run as we would have chance to develop our best players rather than have to throw them on the scrapheap for some overpaid aussie.

Agree, but it could take a while.
Short term pain for long term gain.

| There is a list as long as your arm of Australian and NZ players playing in SL and the championship who offer nothing more than an English academy product, so just take them back.

| It would be a good thing as far as I'm concerned. Firstly, RL in Aussie needs to expand in order to keep the Aussie Rules drongos in check. Secondly, the game over here is a small minority sport and we need to keep alive the opportunities for home grown talent. At the moment this is being stifled by clubs opting for short term gain over long term development of their own players, resulting in many talented youngsters leaving the pro game too early.

Exactly, I think that it would make English RL as a whole much, much stronger. The so-called "smaller" clubs from SL such as my team Cas would probably benefit, but Hull KR would struggle imo who haven't got that many English players coming through.

| the standard will drop no doubt.
The NRL salary cap is also being increased in accordance with the new TV deal, so top aussies will go home, average aussies will fill the expansion clubs and the cream of British talent will be picked off by the NRL. The exchange rate also harms English clubs trying lure the best aussies.

Instead of trying to emulate your game we may try something that will actually change the balance of power .
Maybe genetic modifications, as a last hope .
It will be a poorer competition if your 2nd / 3rd string players go home.

| with all due respect good sir, whilst i can see what your getting at. i dont see what how those links prove the 'Production of quality players in expansion areas'
the two welsh lads were playing it at school, so its not like they wouldnt have were it not for the influence of the crusaders. elima is french and france is not an expansion area, youve had your own league for donkeys years.
the scottish lad was playing for an amateur team and is scotland really an expansion area at the moment? the two welsh lads and the scotish lad havent really been 'produced' by anyone, they decided to take up the game in the absence of a pro or semi pro rugby league set up in their area, or regardless of the presence of one. and these are places that have had a amateur rugby league presence for years.
with regards to rinaldi, see points about elima above.
and rhys wlliams was 'produced' by the Scarlets, a rugby union team.
i fail to see the point of these links.

| They are all players at M62 clubs, and do not come from the M62 corrider, hence they are players from expansion areas

| my point being that france is not an expansion area really. and with regards the others, they were not 'produced' because of any meaningful semi pro or pro rugby league presence in their areas, but in some cases because of existing amateur set ups that havent just been magically paracuted in recently and churned them out.

The NRL is looking to expand in two years, it will have more money due to the new tv deal which will raise the cap.
If the exchange rate stays the same the only ozzies left in sl will be poor ones or ones to lazy for pre season.

This could be the making of RL in this country, imo. The emphasis will now be firmly on producing our own youngsters and they will be given the opportunity to play. This is both a challenge and an opportunity. Those clubs which fail to act now will fail. That will be no-one else’s fault but their own.
I firmly believe that there is a lot of latent talent out there, which often gets lost to the sport. It is probable that the current structure of the game will need to change though.

TBH Parra I would prefer them to go to the NRL rather than the dark side.
For me it can only be a plus if it helps to bring on young English talent so eventually we can compete with the Aussies/Kiwis at a decent level.
