In the extremely unlikely event that a professional rugby league match is played in the northern hemisphere in 2020, they will be behind closed doors. The French clubs will have to be based in England for the duration, as will Toronto due to restrictions on international travel. There's also no point in any team flying from one country to another to play behind closed doors anyway.

More likely though, this won't matter, because there will be no games played at all.

I can't now see how relegation can take place at the end of 2020.

Relegation will be by natural selection. The first 12 clubs, from any level of the game, who confirm they still exist and are able to run a full time operation are automatically admitted to Super League 2021 (or possibly 2022).

That could well prove to be the case unfortunately. If we can get started again we might see a reconfigured season played out in the autumn with it stated that P&R are suspended. With the highest finishing clubs in the next tier down then stepping up next season to take the place of any club that doesn't make 2021 (this may need to be done using finishing positions for 2019 as I doubt all 3 leagues will resume). Depending on how long they have to go without any income and how many clubs we lose from all levels we may see Championship and League 1 having to become a single smaller division anyway. If we cannot resume the season we may not even have 12 clubs left.

The only certainty is that if Wires were the only club left, we'd still get beat in the Grand Final.
