Just returned from the lunch and what an excellent session this was. Very well attended, quality buffet, and an excellent speaker in Paul McDermott. He spoke well and with good humour about his times at Trinity particularly the 79 semifinal when the occasion obviously got to him. The reason for leaving Trinity, a very funny experience while playing in France, and mixed emotions when playing for Sheffield. I’ve listened to a few ex players at the Friday lunch for a few years now, and it’s obvious that a great many players have been mistreated by many league club’s management. Paul’s rugby experience is certainly worth listening to.
