How come they'd heard of Gus Risman, who retired from playing in the early 50's, and Fox's contemporary Eric Ashton? Come to that given the game is played mainly in Lancashire, Cumberland and Yorkshire, all the players on the plinth played for Lancashire clubs? In fact three of them played for Wigan.
