| I don't think it matters. The ball (or tee) is not in play at that time. It's a bit like a tackled player can put his foot in touch while regaining his feet.
And the tee was probably placed incorrectly.

A kick at goal after a try may be taken from any point on an imaginary line drawn parallel to the touch line in the field of play and through the point where the try was awarded. - See more at: www.rugby-league.com/the_rfl/rul ... WOFhl.dpuf
so the kicking tee has to be in the field of play

| But the kicking tee is wider than the tip of the ball so the tee could be out but the tip of the ball in.

| Now I've watched it again the tee was just in the field. Must've had a funny view of the screen. Doh! Still interested in the answer though.

| I suppose technically it should be taken again since it's not in line with where the try was scored, but I'm not sure any refs would be that pedantic. Cleary they aren't gaining an advantage, quite the opposite. You can't be in touch when kicking a goal, kickers will be striking the ball with their standing leg in touch on most touch line kicks and clearly they wouldn't be ruled out.
