Langtree Park is no different than any other RL ground. Luke Lewis slid a good way to hit the hoardings. DW stadium has had a player going over the wall into the seating.

40k was decent for a non-England final I thought.
It's something to build on and worthy of an England game there in future and a WC QF or SF in 2021.


As for the other stadiums/attendances, they were a bit of a mixed bag;

5,300 at Craven Park and 6,600 at Workington - not great. I'd have liked to have seen the Scotland games actually in Scotland to see how they did.

24k sell out at Huddersfeild was great, maybe a larger stadium next time.

21k at the double-header in Coventry. Not bad considering it was played in Cov, but it'd have sold more tickets elsewhere IMO

35,500 in London, pretty good I think for a group game and vital we have visibility in the capital.


As always, there was a lack of marketing and it took an age for the dates/venues to be released. Both aspects need to improve, but we say that every time it seems.

I enjoyed Anfield yesterday. Better than Elland Rd IMO and great venue for future internationals.

I sat in the kop. the seats were as cramped as elland road imo, spent most of the game dodging try cards that kids were turning into planes and throwing around, probably says all you need to know about how good that contest was. That said, i could see it being a great atmosphere were England to be playing there and playing well. I would take a game there again for sure.

Yep I understand why they all stand up in the Kop now. Definitely take a game back there though. To get 40k for a non-England game is great.

The crowd was very impressive on Sunday and getting more than the last final England were involved in was unexpected. Anfield should definitely be used again, possibly for Magic Weekend in a couple of years. It's very hemmed in by the surrounding streets and it's a bit far from town, which is one of the selling points of St James' Park, but there's always been plenty of pubs around the ground and now there's that Fan Zone on Anfield Road which would be good for kids/families on MW. Six of the twelve teams who will be in SL next year play within 30 miles, and it's just attracted a 40,000 crowd for a neutral international so it has to be used again soon.
