Call me a cynic but if he resigns then Salford would not have to pay off his contract. Now Nobby been a pretty smart guy wouldnt do that so what is the odds that there has been a generous gift from the good Doctor so that paying him off wouldnt count on the salary cap?
Noble is on a fixed contract and so it isn't a question of dismissal. He has to do the job, for the time stipulated, and Salford have to pay. If they relieve him of his duties then it makes no difference to the fact that under his contract he is due his money just the same. Dismissal claims are not relevant.
Whether he can be shunted into a different role depends entirely upon whether that is provided for in his contract, if it is, he can be, and if it isn't, then he can't.
