how many causual fans would watch it? Frank warren had a similar idea with boxnation and that channel is struggling to survive and hoping for bt to buy it.
As good a a purely rugby subscription channel would be it would struggle to attract new subscribers, the clubs wouldn't get as much tv money so they'd struggle to survive as well.'"
That's not what's happening in Oz, the NRL are clearly gearing themselves up for their own online content subscription in years to come. Once we get the NBN roll out and every household with an internet connected TV, the pay TV landscape will look very very different. NRL currently gets around $200,000,000 (120,000,000 GBP) a year from TV deals. It has in the region of 5-750,000 regular viewers for games with around 400,000 of those paying Fox anything up to $25 a week to watch 5 games. It would require around 400,000 of those RL fans to be willing to pay $10 per week for all 8 games plus advertising revenue and the NRL would be well in front.
If you can move SL back to winter so we get 12 months of RL viewing/subscriptions that would be great thanks!
