Might seem a strange topic, but I was wondering what you think is the ideal size (height and weight) for a 6. When you look at standoffs in SL, their a 6 foot+ 6 like Gaskell and Sinfield, whilst their are shorter ones like Briers and Blake Green for example.
What do you want to see from a 6 physically, and where do you think the larger pivots are best fitting in the side?
Paul Cook is about 6'3" so was Nigel Wright, both extremely skillful while maybe not being the most athletically gifted.
Tony Myler and John Joyner were both about 6'1" and we're also very athletically built while David Topliss and John Woods were much shorter, skinnier and wiry
Wally Lewis was 6'0" and almost 15st and is regarded as the best ever but Brett Kenny ran him close and they couldn't have been built more differently.
Then you've got Olsen Filipaina who was built like Iafeta Palea'aesina.
The common denominator here is they were all very good or great stand offs and shape, height, weight wasn't a barrier to any of them.
Cliff Lyons , was initially a Back Rower stocky & 5'10"
One of the best Stand Offs I've ever seen .
If he's got that burst of speed, the hands & the rugby brain the rest is unimportant.
