Any simulating, diving or whatever else you want to call it should be nipped in the bud immediately by the powers that be. Interesting to see a poster make a point in an earlier post about how he laughs when RL fans complain about Footballers diving.

As a more recent convert to the sport, in fact someone who has recently swapped a season ticket watching the football to a season ticket watching Rugby League I don't believe it is anywhere near as bad as football. In fact one of the very reasons I've become such a big fan of the sport is the honesty and tough nature of it. Something that football lost long ago. I also know a number of others who have started watching for the very same reasons as me and I believe Rugby League will continue to win fans over from football for those very reasons.

I was watching a programme earlier on Sky sports about the Premier League 10 years ago and there were clips of tackles for which players get red carded for these days but then, they weren't even getting a yellow card. It was the same with diving, there were much fewer players those days who dived, primarily because it was still frowned upon. Unfortunately it now seems to be accepted.

And that's my point with Rugby League. If they don't take a zero policy to it now. It will creep into the sport more and more and more in my opinion.

It does seem the attacking side can get away with "bending the rules"

In the Saints Salford game, SIlverwood pinged Salford 3 times for pushing the man playing the ball, then a tackle later, the Saints player pushed the Salford player and nothing was given.

Refs should be allowed to call "no interference" when players are trying to milk a penalty. Upon hearing this call the tacklers are then allowed to dive or flop back onto the prone player while the ref adds another tackle to the count.

IIRC the wording in the laws is something like "the tackled player shall immediately regain his feet..", so there's scope to penalise a player who fails to do so.

There's also the section on misconduct, which includes "behaving in any way contrary to the true spirit of the game", which could be used to penalise such behaviour.

Any player diving or moving off the mark should have a penalty given against them and im sure it would soon stop if it was consistently enforced. If that team does it a second time in the same game send the player to the bin.

I agree - it would make for a few rounds of messy games, since the practice has become endemic across all clubs, but if the coaches were made aware of it and it was consistently enforced, they'd soon pack it up and find another way to cheat.
