Why, there's a thread at LU where we have all talked about this and gone over it, Perth Red is in there too and has missed the part where his almighty afl will lose a load of money if this happens because Telstra will back out and they have said this heaps of times. As if they'll give 150 million away for nothing, what planet is PR from?
Does RL have to sell internet rights to any of these blood sucking company's and get ripped off like PR's almighty afl?
Well no, no they don't, they could actually set up their own online telecasts and sell them via subscription thus bi-passing all of it. They could still get a big sponsor or 10 on board to help out.
This only effects FTA games and PR has missed the part where RL gets 3 a week compared to 4 a week for afl, in fact, the afl split their coverage in to different states, thus, every game may be affected, yes all 9 games. Plus if it's going to cost the NRL 100-200 million or so, tell em to get nicked and completely bi-pass FTA altogether and sell it all to Pay TV for the right price. Does PR think Telstra will not kick up a stink if they lose and that it is indeed his mighty afl that might have &&&&ed up first instead of RL for once?
RL has the new IC up today and the chairman is an IT expert, he has a few months left to see where this is all going and you can be sure he'll be looking at any way to get around this and maximise those $$$$.
As usual, RL people no matter where always look at the bad stuff and whinge, they hardly ever stand back and take a good hard look and see what is actually going on and look to see where we can improve and maybe, just maybe get one over our main opposition (PR's afl).
There's been so much good news about RL in the last few weeks with TV deals, sponsors, crowds and ratings being up in the ESL across the UK and France, we now have the IC in Australia today after near 4 years of trying, but damn, most forums are still filled with whinging and moaning.
