Quote ="headhunter"Firstly because England and GB is virtually the same thing and so it's pretty ridiculous to suggest your feelings have changed so much because of a name. But secondly because I'm guessing you are one of these dinosaurs who thinks that the sole point of international RL is to 'beat the Aussies', despite the fact that they are not even the best team any more. Perpetuating the same attitude that has held the sport back for so long.'"
Rugby League in this country has a rich history of competing on the international stage as GB which now appears to have been thrown down the toilet along with any future Ashes series. The most memorable Test Series in history involve GB... certainly not England which is just a brand name like Heinz Tomato Ketchup is a brand name. I don't consider myself English... I'm British, just as it says on the passport.
On the subject of who is currently the best team, if you think it's the Kiwis then feel free to stick a wad of money on them at the bookies. You'll get odds of 3/1 on them winning the 4N this year. Australia are paying 4/11.
I'm personally delighted that the Kiwis are current World Champions and 4N champions. It proves how far they've progressed internationally on the back of the Australian system and their players being products of the NRL. They've peaked at the right time to win recent Finals against Australia... something England are incapable of. But let's not lose sight of the fact that in 22 Tests between the two sides since 2004, Australia have won 16, two were drawn and the Kiwis won just 4.
