| the problem with the NRL is we have too many places that need a team ASAP, thats whats holding back PNG.
In australia perth, central coast and probably 3 more queensland teams are an absolute must.
NZ really needs at least 1 more team, id go two if the finances were good.
and then theres PNG and even Adelaide..
the SL war lessened the apetitie for expansion, espeically to the more exotic places
However with the NRL salary cap set to rise to $6 - 7 million backed by TV grants the situation down the track will change dramactically.
we are looking at our next TV deal being $1 - $1.5 billion comapred to $500 million now
then when we add 2 out of perth, central coast and brisbane well get another massive increase next time
so by the next TV contract the landscape will be ripe for PNG IF they get their bid sorted out
the priority now is getting the salary cap up so we keep our elite players and even raid the union ranks again plus expand to the "easy" places
come 2020 NZ II and PNG would be quite ready for admittance to the nrl which would take us to a whole new level obliterating our domestic competitots

You'll have to either sign in or sign up to read this thread with 1455 (so far) replies accompanied with some pretty pictures of PVC piping and Jumpers used at Goal posts in local parks with children on the slippery dip and swings or people walking their dogs through the middle of the matches
Here's a teaser.

Quote ="Rooster Booster"I was gobsmacked at some of the other countries. Other RL ones like Fiji, Samoa and Tonga. WTF? I had no idea it was even serious in PNG. Sweden? India? LOL. But I'll stop there as this is moving onto other sports.

They don't play RB, I went on a tour of Fiji and a lad from Victoria took AFL balls to give to they kids at the local school. They didn't have a clue about the 'sport' and I maybe wrong but I didn't see it on their TV it was all NRL and Union.
By the end of the morning I had them playing League (albeit with lineouts) much to his displeasure.
