Free entry for certain limited persons or even free entry to everyone on a certain specific occasion of note (El Masri) is fine.
I wouldn't want to make it a regular practice anywhere though.
Our game has survived on the gate for much of its existence (since 1895). If that was all we had, we would still be fine. Fortunately, we have a lot more.

Every damn thing is over priced these days, it's criminal.
The Titans are the worst though, if they keep the prices up, no one will go and the AFL will give away thousands of tixs and when they do start charging, they'll be cheap as chips.
