Quote ="Grimmy"I thought Burgess looked dominant but worried about how often he shot out of the line looking for a big hit on their half back. Do that too often against Lockyer or Thurston and they'll make him pay. It's ok doing it now and then but he seemed to do it every time the ball came across.
I was pleasantly suprised by Sinfield last night so I'd feel better about putting him in there for his kicking. I think next week I'd go:
FB Shaun Briscoe
RW Tom Briscoe
RC Lee Smith
LC Kyle Eastmond
LW Ryan Hall
SO Danny McGuire
SH Richie Myler
P Adrian Morley
H James Roby
P Jamie Peacock
SR Gareth Ellis
SR John Wilkin
LF Kevin Sinfield
S Sam Burgess
S Gareth Carvell
S James Graham
S Sam Tomkins
Drop Shenton and Moore because both looked fairly bad on debut against poor opposition, that's never a good sign. All eyes were on Myler but I thought he outperformed these two at least. I think Tomkins and Wilkin are better players anyway. Also I've switched Westwood for Carvell because I think Carvell's had a better season and Westwood didn't really do much last night.'"
Moore seemed to take a knock and looked a bit out of it after that so i think your being a little harsh. As for shenton having a worse game than myler, people have blamed shenton for the french try on the wings but if you watch the replay myler misses the tackle of greenshields meaning shenton has to come out of position to tackle him, which he did but unfortunatley he got the ball away in the tackle (something alot easier to do when only being tackled by one player). myler did score two tries but considering how much he backed himself rather than try to create something (which at 7 is his job) thats not too suprising. myler (and the other halfs) need to actually start trying to create something and pass the ball out wide, in the last two games how many times have we put our centres into space? when you have a partnership of the top scoring winger and the top scoring centre in sl you should be giving them far more opportunities (and far better opportunities) than we did against france.
Tony smiths needs to tell the forwards to stop looking for the miracle ball all the time, the amount of knock ons we made trying to offload the ball was discraceful and only peacock managed to get it right.
I would drop myler and put in tompkins, tompkins defence maybe suspect at times but its better than mylers. Tompkins also needs to learn to create things more, but once again so far he has shown more promise in that department than myler has at this level.
